well first of all you see I contain multitudes pudge so don’t be surprised if a day comes where I do surprise you hahaha
But yeah living here my whole life, I know a lot of former and a few current Scientologists. Some of my closest friends and my ex are former scientologists. So I have a lot of empathy for individual members especially young ones that were literally abused and indoctrinated into it. The organization itself is very evil but that’s what lends empathy to the people trapped by it. It’s complex, I just don’t rush to demonize the individual the same way most people do (most people are coming from a place of ignorance which is totally understandable considering media gives a very one dimensional view of it)
But yeah. It’s like weird because I feel defensive of it because I feel defensive for the people I care about and what they’ve been through, but I also can criticize the fuck out of it. I just guess I want people to be criticizing it for the right reasons and whatnot

Yeah I just immediately read it as you saying the institution itself was acceptable and that floored me, but I had to give the benefit of the doubt because there was just no way. The line between being trapped and abused personally and perpetuating the cycle of that abuse is always tricky no matter the context.

Yeah that’s what I’m sayin haha their tests are their gimmicks. You have to be careful! But not really because you can’t get sucked very far in before they ask for money. Like someone else said haha.
