I just have no idea how a band as bland as U2 got so big

They're not perfect they're certainly flawed but they have some nice songs that I enjoy

Yeah and that's fair it is weird that these bands got as famous as they did especially considering their main demographics are people that aren't THAT into music

I was already thinking about responding to @Sean Murphy ’s post with that line.

 

They've been playin' since the mid 70's, haha. Maybe they haven't kept up with the times, but they were hardly "bland" in the 80s and 90s.

 

Tbh I find a lot of popular bands to be bland

The bands for people that aren't really into music just do nothing for me

 

U2 has two incredible albums imo.

 

I've heard enough of their music to know that I think they're bland. I'm half Irish, my grandmother was OBSESSED with them

Idrk how popular they are (obv not as much as the aforementioned 2) but Depeche Mode is one of my fav bands and I feel like they get somewhat grouped into that as well

I mean whether or not U2 qualifies for the name, “bland” music in general being popular shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone. It’s inherently more accessible than weird experimental genre stuff.

Do you like Drab Majesty? They carry the exact same tone as Depeche Mode, but I find it a little boring in the 20XX's.
