this thread is bad for me because all the users post cat pictures and it just makes my urge to adopt a cat even more.

 

Ok so I work for that family as a nanny. We specifically discussed that even if I don't work for the week (if they have days off, don't need me etc.) that I would still get paid for the week. So next week they are going to Iowa and won't need me. When I left work on Wednesday I was expecting my check to be including next weeks pay, except it only had a $250 bonus on top of this week's pay. I asked them politely about it and they said they weren't planning on paying me next week because they thought I had requested the day after Xmas off. (I won't get paid for the week if I request a day off.) This pissed me off cuz I had simply asked "Are you guys going to still be in Iowa the day after Christmas?" and he said "no but she is not working so we won't need you" so I said "oh ok just making sure you don't need me so I can plan something that day" HOW THE FUCK IS THAT REQUESTING A DAY OFF. Like why would I request a day off that I already have off and hypothetically if I had requested a day off that I already had off wouldn't he just tell me that and I wouldn't get punished for it??? So he ended up saying they will pay me for the week but can't afford to give me the bonus anymore. The whole thing makes zero sense to me and I think they were just trying to get away with not paying me. I really need to keep an eye on them now and make sure I don't get taken advantage of. Ugh I miss my old family so much.

That really sucks and is shady. It really sucks how much this shit can happen when working for an individual family

also am I the only one who finds it hella screwed up that you don’t get paid for the whole WEEK if you ask for one DAY off???!
