yeah the job i worked throughout college had its own ring tone so i knew to just ignore the calls because they hired shitty people who would just call out or no show and then the responsible people who actually showed up to their shifts and agreed to come on on days off would just get fucked because they'd build a reputation as someone who will just say yes. eff that noise.

Yeah, I did that or had my phone on mute as much as possible. I still wince whenever I hear my phone ring from a call all these years later.

 

Hollywood Video, Blockbuster, Target in that order. the former two were the worst because i went down with both ships so by the end they had really paired down staff and the few that were left worked 7 days on and 1 day off a lot of the time. both companies tried to resurrect themselves with subscription models towards the end and selling that shit was fucking miserable. at Blockbuster if they agreed to sign up for the Netflix competitor we farted out, we would have to sit the customer down at this grey early 90s IBM computer with one crumb of RAM and have them sign up and it took like 20 minutes.
