I feel like there's almost no such thing as spoiler-free reviews anymore either. Like for a while back when I'd still read reviews before seeing a movie I'd always be like shocked at how many plot details they get into, or like how many reviews would give away that a movie has a twist in it. So I stopped reading reviews before seeing movies, and even now when I go back and read some reviews after seeing a movie I'm almost always relieved that I didn't read the review before the movie lol

like some folks on here would shit if you even posted that there is confirmation that rey speaks in this movie

It varies from movie-to-movie, really. Like, in a lot of movies the only plot details you really need to get into are like the basic setup, like everything you learn in the first 10-15 minutes of the movie about what's going to happen. But then there are other movies where like the very nature of the main plot itself is a spoiler because of how the marketing for it was a misdirection or because there's a major twist right at the very beginning.

Like if I were to describe Knives Out to someone who hadn't seen it, I would say it's a murder mystery/whodunit about the murder of a famous mystery author and how his eccentric family are the prime suspects.
What I wouldn't say is that the marketing was all just a misdirect and Daniel Craig isn't actually the main character of the movie. And I definitely wouldn't say why that's the case lol
It's a tough line to walk.

 

I tend to drill down even further, I'd say it's a comedic murder/mystery and leave it at that.

Yeah I guess that’s fair. I really don’t like 3D so I only go to that if it’s the earliest possible showing. Had to for TFA and I was not happy.

see, I think it's fine to describe the plot as the film wants you to believe it is at the beginning, up until the twist happens and you realize that the movie is something else entirely.

It's part of the reason that I've always described Mr. Robot's plot using only details from the very first episode before adding "and then it develops from there" lol
