Ahhh! See I’m usually a sucker for Indian curry over Japanese, but there’s a few places I go to which blow my mind. They’re local independently run, not chains, so unfortunately it’s not something I can recommend that you’ll get to try unless you’re here!

There’s one place near me that’s called 冬椿 and they have a super fucking cute cat that sits and watches you eat. They serve such good curry, and it’s attached to their home. It’s a really nice grandma lady running the joint. She serves super flavourful seasonal curries.




The other place is called something like Onion House or Orange House? It’s a lot more rustic and shabby looking, but it’s a grandma running a curry restaurant in a TINY restaurant which again is her house. I feel bad going there like she’s always so busy cleaning and cooking. She needs help but she’s such a trooper. It’s these weird little hidey hole places I find that make me super happy to be here. So many secret food joints to discover haha. And the people working there are so fucking grateful for the conversation and business. Idk it’s this sense of community kinda deal which just makes good food better.

I feel ya on this too. This has been the month of the dentist for me. I can finally chew food on the left side of my mouth after 2 years.

Wow that's so beautiful!! I love how well they incorporate seasonal and local elements into their food, makes the eating culture so rich and diverse.

How do you like Kagawa? It's not been on my radar really of places to visit, cause for my first time it'll have to be the big ones (Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, possibly a day trip to Yokohama or somewhere for a ryokan). Would love to visit more northern Japan like Hokkaido/Aomori etc. and of course more south but there'd be so much to do in the first three cities alone and I wouldn't want to sacrifice time there on my first trip and pack too much in. Have you had a chance to travel much and see other parts of the country?

 

I believe I am A- which is another important blood type. Since I quit smoking cigarettes I donate whenever I can!
