always fun to see at which point artists who have recently blown up get backlash. and how weird that backlash often is.

 

Dude from Fat White Family has a history of taking shots at bands who achieve the success he could only dream of, dress it up in political framing to make himself sound knowledgeable and sound off for clicks when his embarrassingly shit band have barely gotten anywhere in a decade-plus with their played-out shock value shtick.

 

Basically any time I read shit like that I feel like this

 

This just in: there is a young band from new york with four (or five) musicians in it, and one of the parents of one of those musicians is also artistically inclined. Truly a shocking revelation

I pray that I am never so attention-starved that I'm willing to be that stupid on purpose on the internet about a person I've never met

 

and that's before we even get to the part where they throw pedophilia/organized crime accusations around casually just for fun

 

also it's weird to single out the mom when the dad (not that they should single him out either lol none of these people are """"nepo babies"""" and the music is good so who gives a shit) owns a massive music sync library

 

I listen to this album every day, cheers

 

I can definitely understand that it feels offputting the way the PR machine starts working in overdrive the second things really spark for a crossover indie success (see Phoebe and MJ as the other major 2020s examples), but the backlash is 1000 times more annoying every time. It’s bad enough when it’s just instagram commenters, soo embarrassing to come from another band.

only expect it to get worse too

 

a band from NYC was always going to have this aspect of success amplified. It's like being a Yankee, the media is brutal

The backlash is very easy to ignore if you like the band
