Their songs are interesting, that's all I can really say about them, but there's nothing that grips me much. Your analysis of them was pretty spot on though.
Volcano and R&S and the S/T still slap so hard like god damn this band was so ahead of their time yet so clearly influenced by bands like The Cure and stuff like that. Lots of goth rock mixed in with the progressive un-structured songwriting
Volcano is the best, go to self-titled after that and then work your way back from Volcano. People are going to argue with me and say that Ribbons & Sugar is the best, but it is not my favorite.
I actually have had the s/t for a few years, I had just never gotten around to going back until I spotted Volcano for two bucks in a Salvation Army. Everyone has their blind spots, man. I could be puzzled that you haven't heard 10 Warren Zevon records or anything from Ahmad Jamal. Haha
ill always go to bat for S/T but yeah Volcano is one of those albums that doesnt get enough credit for the influence its had on a lot of different bands from our scene. I love how gothic and chaotic yet smooth and groovy it can be
i think its right up there with like, Worship & Tribute and The Ugly Organ as far as having a deceptively large impact on so many bands from our scene and even beyond
They are active on Facebook for the first time since like 2018, not sure if it means anything but I hope
