Every few months I go through a phase when these guys are the only thing I want to listen to. GFIL is damn near perfection. Cannot wait to start the LP3 hype cycle.
The past few days have been really stressful and anxiety-filled. GoY has been the only thing that I can listen to that gives me some peace.
I find I listen to this band a lot too. They are a great outlet/grounding/distraction/make you feel not-so-alone band. Really looking forward to their next album.
I love the “epic” nature of this album. It’s long and winding, full of highs and lows, has defeat and perseverance, features lots of instrumentation and at moments very little at all, soft and heavy, honest and real, comforting and crass, and just feels like honest.
I just came here to bump the thread with this amazing acoustic version of Overpass. Happy Wednesday everyone!
I was hoping they posted some kind of update. on a side note, it’s interesting to see how a band follows up an album that has a huge impact on their career trajectory.
I would love new music but at the same time they gave us The Positions, LMBC and this in the span of like, four years? so I think they're on a well earned break haha
I thought they had been working on a new album though. Not sure if that means gathering ideas, writing, demoing or working on an album.
There was a post Dave made a little while ago on one of their accounts saying they had just started or were about to start working on the new album and that it was going to be primarily about his Dad who just passed away.
There’s typically a lull in music releases at this time of year, which means it’s a great chance for people to check out new music. I’d suggest this album. So much raw soul bearing goodness. Hope they put out a new album in 2021.
