the original Blood by a band called The Middle East is phenomenal too. the whole album it's from really is stunning
Whenever that song comes up, I can't help but post this other cover, which I think is the most beautiful thing I've ever heard.
I’ve been listening to that live version for a long time, and wish they captured it as a studio track. Fun note I saw, but I guess the band Mumford and Sons found out about GOY after hearing that cover of Blood, and have played it together live (also can found on YouTube).
Saw Gang of Youths live in Adelaide, absolutely spectacular. Born to play arena shows like these. I think they have improved with every album but it's undeniable that the Go Farther songs got the biggest crowd response. (They are generally more rocking.)
Oh and as for the best song chat here earlier, they played Spirit Boy and it was brilliant. Closed first set with Wake of Your Leave and the crowd chanted the synthetic line for minutes until the encore (also brilliant). Encore was the closing two tracks. You guessed it, brilliant. Those are probably my top 4 and I am no closer to choosing a fav after the show.
I love Go Farther In Lightness and I still loved hearing those songs live but everything from Angel was next level. I think I might be leaning towards Spirit Boy being my song of the year
As of this morning I can confirm that the end of Goal of the Century still makes me cry every damn time
I just listened to Angel yet again, and Go Farther and Angel are both brilliant for very different reasons. Trying to say one is better than the other is kind of pointless, it’s just more a preference thing. Do you love the rock, “pick yourself up from the floor” opera feeling album or the multi instrument infusion, opulence in the story of dealing with loss and grieving. Their previous releases have allowed them to kind of go in both directions, or any direction for that matter.
I love how simple, heartfelt and and personal they kept Brothers on AIRT. Made the song more powerful by not adding additional instrumentation and allowed you to focussing lyrics.
Is this fan made? (I only ask in case they are YouTube rips. I’d like Blood to not have the triple J sound intro/outro)
