It’s cool when alt versions, demos and covers pop up like this.

 

This ep is really lovely

 

I really like how GOY seem to like so many of their own songs. Like, there’s a sense of pride. They don’t just hammer one single at you, but instead seem to be really behind promoting so many different songs.

 

Absolutely agree. It's lovely.

 

I would 200% take an album that sounds like the alternate "in the wake"

I’m curious, we’re these alt versions recorded after AIRT was released or were they versions of the songs that existed and put aside as not how the wanted them on the final album?

 

I feel like alt is being used very loosely here. They just sound like acoustic versions?

 

Yeah, I like these, but they’re not too different from the originals in instrumentation or tone

 

Some of these versions could be part of the evolution of the songs up to what we got on the record. It’s not uncommon to have different versions or change tempos or instrumentation through the recording process. Or they could be something neat they did after.

 

Yeah, I know they made the whole album and then scrapped it. I don’t know if they just reworked the songs or made completely new ones

This is becoming one of my favourite albums of all time. Every time I listen to it I'm floored.

 

I listened to again on the weekend. The production on the record is absolutely fantastic for highlighting what they were going for.

 

Yea, this is sitting uncontested as my favorite album of the year so far.

 

Yeah, IMO, nothing else is even close.

 

I’ve also been super impressed by Dan Andriano’s album. Between it, GOY and Greg Barnett’s, album (which all came out in February), these have been my favourite 3 for different reasons.

 

This is definitely my number 1, followed by Cold Years.

 

This album by a mile.
