    what are you talking about

euron does not recognize tommen's authority, tommen does not recognize euron's

the culturally accepted means of legitimizing a bastard is via a king whose power you recognize and accept. if jon had accepted stannis' offer, he would have been a subject of stannis and his stark surname would not have been recognized as legit by tommen and the lannister/baratheon regime.

jon will probably never be legitimized as a targaryen because no one alive besides maybe howland reed knows he's the son of rhaegar

    I'm Back.

I was just trying to understand who is allowed to legitimize someone...that's all.

I assumed a Stark would have to request for another Stark to be named. Same goes for other families since Roose requested to have Ramsay become a Bolton, I'm not sure if it happened any other place.

  6. I'm not sure if a member of your own house has to request you being legitimized. I think the King can just do it regardless.

So in theory Tommen could legitimize Jon as a Targaryen or a Stark, if he felt compelled to do so. If this happened, Jon would be recognized as legitimate anywhere in the Seven Kingdoms that Tommen's authority has rule.

Now, Euron has been crowned King of the Iron Islands and does not recognize Tommen's authority over the Iron Isles. Euron could also legitimize Jon as a Targaryen or Stark if he wanted, but Jon would only be recognized as legitimate by the Ironborn. No one else would care, probably.

If Jon would've accepted Stannis' offer, then Jon would have been recognized as a Stark by Stannis' people, but he'd only be able to keep his legitimization had Stannis succeeded. Since Stannis failed and his army is wiped out, there's no one really left to give a shit who Jon is or isn't. The rest of the continent wouldn't care about what Stannis did prior to his death.

Interesting. Need to see that screen shot. But Arya has to know that Waif if coming for her. So maybe somehow she used her own face as a diversion, so she can get the upper hand on Waif.

    I'm Back.

    Ok cool, thanks for that.

On that note, no fucking way a Barratheon or Lannister would ever legitimize a Stark or Targaryen.

Well there are zero Baratheon's so you are right about that.

Tyrion would legitimize Jon instantly though.

    Yea, if he replaced Tommen.

I have a feeling Dany will end up on the Iron Throne (there is that Bran vision of a large shadow looming over what looks to be King's Landing) and she will legitimize Jon as a Targaryen and that will be the end of the show, or one of the final things to happen.

I'm pretty averse to theories that it wasn't actually Arya that was stabbed/anything else fishy about that scene, but I did see a post about how the face Waif uses was seen up close by Arya last season, so maybe she was expecting something.

don't know if it was posted but:

  12. If the Eldritch Apocalypse is true, then that shadow over King's Landing might not be from Dany...

  13. Solid catch there. This is the first thing I've seen that's come close to convincing me that it may not have been Arya who got stabbed.

  15. Didn't Arya recall his name though, upon his request?

From the GoT wiki... "To his horror, Arya says his own name, asking him to kill himself. At Jaqen's plea, she agrees to revoke his name only if he will help her. He reluctantly tells her to assemble her friends at the courtyard gate at midnight."

Yeah either that, or maybe some kind of misdirection with help of the theatre troupe/Lady Crane. I wouldn't mind that

Are we sure the waif is even still after her? I got the impression that she thought she killed Arya based on the fact that she didn't surface and the smug look on her face as she walked away.

  18. drstrong

    I'm Back.

Yes, the point is that she still has one more name.

Or, the fact that he's recognizing himself to be someone.

  19. Considering Jaqen and Waif knew almost immediately that Arya didn't kill the actress, I'd imagine that at least Jaqen knows Arya is still alive.

By name only obviously, but no one can "prove" he's a Lannister.

  23. Legally yes, he is Tommen Baratheon. But we all know (and a good bit of the Seven Kingdoms knows as well) that he doesn't really have a drop of Baratheon blood in him.

Was she? I don't remember that but I believe you.

Yeah pretty sure she was. Someone call me out if I'm just pulling this out of my ass. But that would mean Arya could now go hunt her down. That scene in the trailer of her doing mad parkour suggests she's feeling pretty alright from those stabs.
