I feel like if people don't see a slaughter or huge fight, they refuse to enjoy the show. Every episode up to this one has had plenty going on, and we saw the return of a LOT of people we have not seen in a while, as well as major developments for Arya and Sam (Even though Sam's story is the least riveting by far). If you're looking to be disappointed, then you're gonna be.
Blood of My Blood: Bran's Vision Broken Down | Watchers on the Wall | A Game of Thrones Community for Breaking News, Casting, and Commentary Screen cap breakdown of Bran's visions
This was a fine episode and the only pointless part was Dany's scene. It'll be the weakest episode of the season probably but better we advance nearly every plot and resolve one of the show's longest mysterious than ignore character development or I don't know, find out who needs the bad pussy.
Hey! Likewise haha. I'm just saying even if this is the weakest episode of the season that the weakest episodes of the prior three seasons are still worse.
These may be the titles for the last three episodes: No one Battle of the Bastards The Winds of Winter
I think this is an episode that will retroactively be enhanced by later episodes. For example, the mention of the Brotherhood Without Banners seems to be setting a lot of things up, which hopefully will come to fruition. Perhaps Lady Stoneheart isn't off the table yet.The jury is still out if Bran's vision of the Mad King means he will have an effect on the past. I still think that the scene with Dany was so inconsequential as to be completely unnecessary and repetitive.
Yeah the Dany scene seemed really forced in there. I guess they were trying to do a connection between her and the Mad King flashbacks? Maybe a little bit of foreshadowing of what she'll become??
I will admit that I too think Dany's scene wasn't a necessary one. Her storyline has been taking a while to progress. I like what's happening, but Drogon has already made big last scene entries before this, Dany has already ridden on him so the ending just didn't hold any weight. I would've thought before the speech that the Dothraki had already gotten all the convincing they needed. Nonetheless, it feels like they're building up something big for her at the end of this season.
if those are the actual titles for the last episodes then i am fine with a "down" episode, so much has happened through a majority of the episodes this season im okay with them keeping it casual this week. and danys speech might have seemed unnecessary, but i do think it was signifying her views and stance shifting a bit.
Was that the first time she reunited with Drogon this season? That's the ultimate purpose of the Dany scene, but yeah it wasn't dramatized in the most interesting way, giving her another rousing speech to an army. She basically explicitly said to these people everything that was powerfully left unsaid when she emerged from the fire a couple weeks ago.
Yeah hopefully it's go time for Dany girl. If she gets back to Meereen and starts politicking I'll lose my mind.
Wow. I loved the Dany and Drogon scene. It's also huge. It shows she can now control Drogon and isn't just being flown off at his own whim. The scene was absolutely huge and I'm kind of bewildered that others can't see that.
I have to disagree that they're making Benjin and Coldhands one in the same here. In the books, Coldhands led Bran to the three-eyed raven. There's still a chance this exact scene happens in the books.
I thought the scene itself was good, it just felt very shoehorned in, and also had a little bit of that "been there, done that" vibe...like oh Dany's giving another fiery speech about why people should follow her haha. I loved seeing Drogon though and agree it's a big deal that she seems to be able to ride him whenever she wants now.
This one seemed very purposely "been there, done that" in recalling a speech of Drogo's: Khal Drogo in You Win or You Die: Daenarys in Blood of my Blood: I really liked this reference paired with Dany showing her mastery of the dragon named in honor of him.
Purposeful or not, I absolutely love the nod to Tywin's conversation with Tommen about what makes a good king. He gives a counter to all of Tommen's examples before finally settling on wisdom, saying a good king listens to those who advise him yet listening to those who advise him is what will be Tommen's downfall.
How is anyone complaining about this damn episode? Benjen was obvious as soon as you saw the upper half of his face, happy yet still confused about this one since it's been so damn long and he's just out there chillin....literally. The Sam stuff didn't really interest me. Bran and his Matrix style learning everything was interesting, especially seeing the Mad King. Alright, well the thing with Arya, she is obviously going to kill Waif, right? There is still that scene in the season preview of Arya dressed in her typical garb jumping from a high roof to another building we haven't seen. My guess is that she's being chased by Waif, or is it THE Waif? Is that her name? I don't know. Quick mention about The Mountain that I haven't seen here. If the Crown and the Faith are now one, but there is a trial by combat between Cersei and the Sparrows (or whoever is against her), right? What if, a big what if, this was a ploy by the High Sparrow to get Tommen on their side....only to throw him in as their champion in the trail by combat (since Cersei is using The Mountain). It would be interesting in two ways: solidifying the Faith's real motive and also putting Cersei in a spot to either choose her own life or her sons.
