This episode would have made more sense if the show was 12-15 episodes, not 10. I mean it's kinda expected after the last couple crazy episodes. Middle of the season of any show is usually a drag. Benjin being back is awesome though.
He said it in the liner notes of one of the manuscripts sent to his editor but I don't think he publicly has said it. Gives him room to make a change.
Woah, that scene showing the fallout from the Red Wedding. Feelsgoodman to know that Frey's army is getting fucked up by the Blackfish and BWB like in the books. Shit, I wonder if they're bringing in LS after all. Hmmm...
I really didn't expect Arya to go full blown on the "Fuck it" train. Figured she'd get sent back to Westeros by the Faceless Men and then turn back into someone. I'm still holy shitting at Benjen and at Bran's visions. I did not expect to see the Mad King at all....I mean I was hoping we would due to that one scene in the trailers before the season started, but did not think we'd get all that. I really, really hope we get that whole scene playing out--Jaime's path to redemption?
This was not a great episode. However, I love the theme of history being passed down incorrectly that's developing this season. Really interesting thing for this show to explore.
Definitely the slowest episode of the season, but that's not a bad thing. We got story progress in every area of Westeros we were shown and a nice character reveal or two. It's only getting crazier from here.
Was it just me, or did anyone else think the episode should have ended on Arya retrieving Needle and blowing out that candle?
I wish they'd stop giving Daenarys these sorts of speeches. Sometimes repetition is good, other times it falls flat because it is strictly in service is requiring something of the character. The former is usually good to establish that this is a framework within which people live and it reproduces itself. I give the episode a B. The show has been really good at weaving together the disparate stories and producing a feeling that things are converging on one another, but this was a poor effort.
Where the F are the other two dragons. That scene would have been way better with the other two dragons on either side of Drogon.
I hope Arga kills that other Faceless God servant that's after her. Who will Frankenmountain end up battling for Cersei's trial by combat? The Hound wiuod by the most entertaining option, but who else could it be? Bronn? I'm just excited to see him next episode. So is Benjen half White Walker since his transformation was stopped before being completed? I guess The Three Eyed Raven is somehow living through Bran now? I'm kind of confused and have a lot of questions.
I thought they were going to appear when she mentioned having three bloodriders, but then I realized that wouldn't make much sense given she probably isn't even aware the other two are free
The other dragons weren't released, Tyrion just unchained them so I don't know why people are expecting them to randomly show up...
Disappointing episode overall. The stuff with Sam felt a little silly and dragged on longer than it should have, I still have no idea where Arya'a story is moving, and although it was cool to see Benjen back, I'm not quite buying it yet. Still, i'm hopeful for the Kings Landing and North buildup. This was the first time though that I didn't miss seeing Tyrion. I'm just not all that invested in his story this season.
I liked the return of the Baratheon theme at the end of Tommen's speech...we haven't heard that since Season 1 I think.
I'm aware of the manuscript note clarifying that Benjen≠Coldhands (remains to see how that will actually play out), but I'm glad they made them the same. Seems like the logical choice, it's a good way to bring Benjen back into the fold and puts to rest so many dumb theories about him
I was so happy to see Sam take Heartsbane with him. He deserves it. Now where is he going to go though?
Lame all around, but really disappointed in Arya's storyline. The House of Black and White seems like such a waste in the show. Surely in the books it will serve a better purpose for Arya.
