I don’t know if anyone suffered more from them deciding to shorten the show and abandon storylines from the books more than Euron (and I guess Victarion) and Dorne
Yeah there were definitely some changes they made that were awesome. The Arya/Tywin pairing always comes to mind. But not fleshing out the Dorne and Iron Islands storylines and making this a full 10 season show will always feel like a gut punch whenever I think about it. Obviously there are some issues there as even GRRM is having trouble untangling that knot. But man....what could have been.
It’s wild to think of how much time has passed since this episode but then also remembering that where the last book ended didn’t even GET to this part yet.
the first thing I remember from the show that wasn't in the books was the walkers taking that baby outside Craster's Keep and the Night King turning it into a walker. That fkin blew my mind
I was out of breath for the last 25 minutes of that episode. So insanely good. That run of episodes at the end of that season really saved Season 5. It's still probably my least favorite of the first 6 seasons, but Hardhome is almost definitely a top 3 episode of the series
If I'm not mistaken I don't think Hardhome is in the books at all. Like they mention an event that happened at Hardhome, it's implied something real bad went down involving the White Walkers, but it's just mentioned in passing and I don't think we're ever going to actually "see it" in the books
Not that the new Night King didn't look badass, but Brake looked REALLY good in that role, definitely preferred that look
i honestly didnt think I'd do it but yeah HOtD made me rewatch in the fall and man, i missed this show when it was at its peak.
