Except for when it’s in the hands of an all-seeing robot who may or may not be immortal! Then it’s cool beans, baby!
Was he talking about all writing in general, or was that just like an "edgy" pull quote for this show...???
“Jon is too noble to refuse his sentence! He will never not flagellate himself for no good reason! Oh wait, he totally just dipped out on everything he was sentenced to. WHOOPS.”
i mean, there was a lord commander, who, granted, was also a prisoner, but until jon he also acted as jailor. player-coach style. vincent kompany ass
is he the only there thats technically a nights watchmen and the rest of its just wildlings? So he can just be like. i order myself to do whatever i want. cool
Is that a jailer? I thought that would he the Lord Commander in that case. Either way, there was no outside force there to make sure they stayed.
i was referring to his going North of Wall to infiltrate and killing Halfhand at his request to legitimize the ruse, i thought you were referring to that
Also it was only a prison to some (most) people there. It used to be where a lot of noblemen would go if they weren’t going to inherit anything. Hence Benjen and Jon and Aegon
I really thought this was a plothole / mistake at first too, but the more I thought about it the more it did seen like a not terrible idea to have some kind of small security force watching the northern border. They had a very specific task before, and now it would be more generalized 'watch for threats' type thing. I mean, we ended up knowing fuck all about the Night King and the White Walkers - who's to say there can't be more of them or more very similar threats that many people don't actually think are real or real anymore but they are?
Yes, there was...if they deserted, they would basically have a warrant out calling for their execution. And nobody would be sympathetic to them
i am pleasantly surprised they didn't go the "Daeny is pregnant" route, thought that was a certainty before this season started tbh
I thought the very last scenes with Jon Snow were done really well. I don't think they needed to spell everything out for us specifically with dialogue. Is he abandoning his post and just taking off? Possibly, although that doesn't seem like a very 'Jon Snow' thing to do. With The Wall / Castle Black not being as crucial as they were before, and with the power structures of Westeros being much different, perhaps Sansa's kingdom goes further north than The North used to, and maybe shes going to have some sort of alliance with The Wildlings. Maybe The Night's Watch really is just him now and he can "order" himself to do whatever the fuck he wants. I liked how some people said Bran and Sansa knew The Nights Watch wasn't really a thing anymore and it was just sort of a ruse, a way to have Jon not be executed and freed but still 'punished'.
They must have decided for some reason to drop it. Maybe they realized killing two pregnant women in the space of an episode would be too much even for them. There’s no way it wasn’t meant to go somewhere with how heavy handed they were foreshadowing other things.
I always liked David Benioff after reading and loving "City of Thieves", but I can't lie, there are times when he comes off as very dumb and kind of a prick in a lot of the GoT behind the scenes stuff. I wish there were video of him saying that book report line, because the way I read it it really comes off like a bro trying to say something badass while talking about his show that has violence and hot chicks getting naked.
