I don't want Jon on the throne, but I don't want Dany either. I do hope that they do get rid of the throne, and not have one single ruler. Sansa in the north, then who gives a shit about everywhere else.
I think now with the internet and obviously the show, it was easier to see Jon as one of the heroes, but when GRRM first started writing the books, the ones destined to rule/be the heroes seemed like Ned, and then Robb and Dany. I don't think it's until the 5th book where you start to get the sense that Jon seems pretty important because the dead are coming and otherwise why is this character still alive if he's not important? of course, in the last book, GRRM kills him...and if that book came out 20 years ago, I think most people would be like well there goes Jon, and you wouldn't have had everyone just assuming that Jon was going to be resurrected because he's too important to the story to die yet, like the internet already did by 2011. Point being: I think GRRM's plan the entire series was to build up Dany as this unstoppable force coming back to take what was taken from her family, but in the end the whole 'subversion of expectations' was going to be that actually Jon is the true heir and the true hero of the story. Unfortunately he didn't write fast enough to actually subvert expectations because the internet geekdom has been able to pool all their resources together and figure out all the clues about Jon.
I'm watching Too Big to Fail with my one econ class today and I can't remember if he's a character in the movie, so now I'm gonna be looking for him lol
I feel like if it ends with Jon still alive on the "Throne" this is going to be a decision he makes. Not one ruler for all seven kingdoms ... everyone can rule themselves in a democratic way. I can see that going down by the end.
I also keep forgetting in the books that we have this WHOLE OTHER possible heir who's already taken the Stormlands. I truly have no idea where Young Griff's story goes.
Not to mention his "real" name in the books is Aegon, the same as Jon. And he has the Golden Company. Speaking of Jon, he's also still technically dead, but I suspect Martin will resurrect him, too. Honestly, I'm going to be really disappointed if the books have the same ending as the show, given all of the other possibilities at play.
Just wanted to say that if Sansa isn’t on the throne by the end of Sunday I will also hate the show and think it’s bad, she is the only one who’d actually be a good ruler let’s be honest here
Griff could wind up being a decoy, like Ned or somebody set him up to believe he was Aegon in order to draw attention away from Jon.
I'm surprised to see someone say that Jon Snow is smart. He's been naive and oblivious to many things the entire series.
Sansa probably would be the best leader left, maybe Tyrion would be good also, but to play devil's advocate on Sansa: Immediately breaking a promise and attempting to usurp a leader right before a major battle, and inadvertently driving the most dangerous person left in the show to go nuts and murder everyone isn't the best thing to have on your resume. Also, she was wrong about the soldiers needing rest. That battle was a cakewalk. I frankly don't understand what the show wants in a ruler. Being honorable is often mocked, but the wisest people keep ending up making major mistakes as well. Maybe the point is going to be that there is no one ruler.
Eh, I'd say it would take them about 3 days. Winterfell was destroyed pretty badly as well, but Dany was able to spawn more Unsullied and Dothraki so they were able to fix it up good as new AND build 70 funeral pyres in like one day. Piece of cake.
I’ve seen a lot of people say that he was killed already, but I don’t know if that’s true. Too bad Arya couldn’t ride a cat out of town.
Hahahah I forgot about this. She says this, Cersei says this, qyburn says this, and it didn’t even matter
Jon is 'smart' in that he knows what it takes to be a good ruler....but he's got a hell of a lot of Ned Stark in him, in that honor is more important than most (all?) things.
