I'm not worried about their Star Wars movie(s) being bad at all. Like, at worst, it will be "pretty good" or something.
The Star Wars movies already run the gamut from great to terrible so it doesn't really matter how good their movie is in the long run
I think for Dany and Jaime specifically, different choices throughout the series and a greater focus and time to breathe in 7 and 8 would really have made a tremendous difference.
Regarding SW, as long as they have the story planned from the start and have a complete vision throughout the trilogy, I'm not too worried. With this show, it's a different situation because they signed on to adapt this book series (which they did amazing) but ending up having to write one of them instead because GRR's delay in everything lol.
I don’t get why people think they will ruin Star Wars. Like Disney isn’t going to have the final say on everything
D&D's problem is they don't know how to run something. They will NOT be running the show with Star Wars. They won't even be directly below the person running the show.
Disney can make bad movies. They make a lot of them. I find it hard to care about their SW movie outside of there is a long list of writers and directors I think would be more interesting with that property
What? Didn't they run the whole GoT series including all the seasons people love? I'm all for shitting on them dropping the ball a number of times lately but I'm not going to talk like they are completely incapable of anything now.
i agree with that but i dont think there's any amount of narrative focus in 8 that would make up for what happened in 7 if that makes any sense. i dont think this season had any chance of getting where we are in a satisfying way considering what got us here. i definitely agree that things should have been improved upon sooner than now how long have D&D been attached to Star Wars? is season seven's decline attributed to that as well?
I’m definitely nervous about SW, but I also care about the main story up through 9 a million percent more than the EU or universe in general, so I’m not freaking out as much. I would rather have almost anyone helming them, but I will still hope for the best for the sake of SW fans.
I think they’ve “earned” the benefit of the doubt on a Star Wars product even if you don’t like how they ended thrones.
Oh absolutely. Changing 8 by itself would not fix the biggest issues, you have to go way back in the process.
lol love to assume a movie will be bad bc a storyline developed by and producer credit. i doubt they even end up writing the screenplay let alone direct the trilogy. y’all wild.
The first few seasons still had Martin though as well. The dip came the second they didn't have the source material and it stayed that way. They aren't completely incapable or anything but they definitely fumbled the ball here late in the game. Though I'm also not saying that pulling it off would've been easy or anything. I don't worry about Star Wars because it'll be original.
there’s literally nothing that would warrant being worried about them writing original stories, which they have been good at the entirety of their career lol
I'm actually not that concerned about Star Wars because it will just be theirstory set in the universe with (hopefully) loose ties to the overall story. The beginning middle and end will be theirs, unlike GoT.
Is the rumor that they are adapting KOTOR based on anything or is it just that SW fans are still itching for it to happen in any form?
Isn't the rumor that they're developing movies set in that era, not necessarily adapting that game specifically?
