supporting actors opinions on the quality of the show couldn't matter less to me. im sure vinny pastore thinks the first few seasons of sopranos are the best since he was barely in the back half lol. im sure the bros who played the sobotkas think the wire s2 is the best. who tf cares.
So let's say Dany dies in the finale. That would mean as a direct result of Robert Baratheon being a possessive shitbag he wiped out the Targaryens, Starks, Martells, Tyrells, Baratheons (temporarily), Boltons, Greyjoys, Tarlys (temporarily), Karstarks, and Umbers.
Uuuuugh that was such a classic scene. I never took that to be specifically about men as in males though, which was the difference in how the emphasis last night stood out to me. Could have just been in the line reading or direction of course.
He's trying to manipulate Jon into turning against her. He doesn't actually believe that a man would be better suited for the throne than a woman. He's been tirelessly working since before the show even starts to put a woman on the throne lol Also in that exchange I feel like he meant "men" as a general term for people, like the people decide where power resides. Because that's how he meant it in the season 2 scene with Tyrion.
That’s really dismissive of people who have put a ton of work into this. Just because they aren’t A list stars doesn’t mean they can’t be invested in their characters or their arcs.
I don’t hate the show but I’d be lying if I said I was invested in it like I was at its peak. The quality just isn’t the same and maybe it was doomed to end up like it is now. However, it’s still a bummer to try to get through this and be disappointed about the writing has been versus how it used to be.
i mean, if they provide nuance, sure it can be useful. basically saying "i think the seasons were bad because i was in them less and i didnt get one more scene with my buddy" kinda sucks and provides nothing lol.
To be faaaaaaiiirrrr, I did mention that in my original post about it a few minutes ago. His turn away from whispers and riddles to more plain and open speaking definitely made a lot of what he said this season seem to be coming from a different place or goal. He obviously needed Gina and Boyle to help with this campaign...
Well, that and not having the source material made the writing and production take a dip; which it did.
I honestly don't think the writing took that much of a hit until season 7. And even then, it was more because of the shortened season and not because of the lack of book material. Martin walked them through where the story was going. The actual events that happened are essentially what's going to happen in the books too, if they're ever finished. They just shouldn't have asked for shorter seasons.
hasn't your argument from like the last five pages (which i agree with) been that the writing didn't really dip and was par for the course, good and bad, for much of the run? production gripes are insane to me. there is bad writing this season (and every other season before it), for sure. the production of the show is kinda unparalleled and i doubt we'll ever see anything like this in episodic seasonal television again.
I've said that some of the complaints are stuff that has always been a problem, yeah. Production isn't just what you see the finished product as. Them actively choosing 13 episodes over 20 was a production choice.
fair enough. on the logistical side of production, agreed. all of the acting, direction, cinematography, music, etc etc etc except the writing has been pretty stellar. i think that's part of the "problem." there's so much hyperbole discussing this show about being one of the worst seasons and endings of all time lol. even if you say the writing is the worst any show has ever had (it isn't by any shred of a possibility) everything else the show has done and started doing the last four or so years turned it into such a spectacle/wonder that it pretty much by definition is better than like 75% of other shows out there
I don’t think its unreasonable to ask that leaks not be actively discussed/reactions not be posted. Ffs its the series finale lol
I definitely don’t mind it, I’m pretty sure they just missed that conversation earlier. Figured a joke was better than jumping on them. I’m happy to pretend I haven’t read any of it.
i think i'd expect him to be last to do it - but, really jon arya sansa and even tyrion have reasonable justification to want to take a stab at her
