Shoutout to the one guy whose "leaks" said Jaime and Euron just fucking sail off and aren't heard from again.
I suspect they only started planning to make the end a little more brisk after they ran out of book to adapt and realized how much more work it was going to be.
I wish they had given her more to do this season. She always always killed her scenes but she just looked out of a window for most of this one. I really thought she would get another story or role to play after being sidelined for the war against the NK. Especially since she was completely proven correct in her judgment on that one.
Is it not elegant that she was crushed by the entire weight of her castle? The symbol of her power and the primary object of her affections?
I get that there was a huge amount of stress involved with living up to the insane expectations of all the viewers - BUT the flip side is how many people would absolutely KILL to be in that position where you have HBO willing to give you all of that money and you have those actors and crew at your disposal and complete and utter free creative reign as to where to take the story??? I know I would. That is such a tremendous opportunity.
Aaaaaaand to the person who said Dany was going to get a sword and the episode would end with her tearfully hugging Jon and them proclaiming their undying love for each other. The way people latched onto that clear fan fic just because THE BEEELLLLLLS enraged them so much is almost poetic.
i didn't hate or love how Cersei died. it didn't have an immediate satisfying death of a "fuck yeah!" like Arya taking out the Night King, but in the bigger context and symbolism of her being crushed under the weight of her entire empire that she's worked to maintain for years, was fitting. kind of feel like she didn't deserve to die with Jamie though? but i'm not pissed about it. seeing Drogon fucking obliterate everything was amazing. this is what the dragons always should have been doing! really showed how amazing and dangerous they can be. would have been cool to see a scene with all three of them tearing shit up.
p sure those were the spanish leaks right? i know at least /r/freefolk those were considered highly suspect and couldn't be verified
also, does Jon have absolutely none of his father's traits or was his father not mad and that's part of the whole "a coin is flipped when a Targaryen is born" thing? he has never ever displayed anything close to losing it or wild anger like almost all of his family members. which leads to me, what would be a hysterical and awful final shot of the finale: Jon turning away from a group of people and slowly beginning to smirk or "smile wolfishly" as fantasy writers like to say, and we see either the reflection of flames in his eyes or on his face or some shit and then the scene goes to black, role credits. could you imagine the outrage?!?!?
An interesting part of Cersei's death is that you could make a case it did fulfill the Valonqar prophecy, just not necessarily the in way one would imagine. The show hasn't seemed too concerned with prophecies beyond initially mentioning them, but I could see Martin putting this spin on things if their death is exactly like that in the books.
Yep! The argument from what I could tell boiled down to fans who were desperate for a different outcome taking publicly-available information as confirmation versus those who accepted the bell leaker as trustworthy even if a lot of it seemed to come out of the blue. If the bell leaks hadn’t existed I don’t think a single person would have given those other leaks a second thought, it was just a misplaced hail mary.
drew did you even watch the episode or are you just copying and pasting all the negative links you are seeing on twitter, because that’s how it seems
Jon isn't a purebred Targaryen, and also Rhaegar's coin landed on the good side, so the odds of Jon inheriting Aerys' madness are pretty low imo
no I watched it and I actually enjoyed it for the most part. I agree with your post in here that some of it was great and some of it was ass. Not all RTs are endorsements but just things to read about and put up for discussion.
whoa. Tyrion is the head of House Lannister now. just read that in a recap article thing. didn't even realize.
