I hope he does and I hope Jamie and Dany's character arcs play out in more or less the same exact way just with the reverse problem where GRRM takes way too long to get to the point instead of rushing it.
I think I know how Bran must feel reading these reactions right after we all went through it a few hours ago. And there’s nothing I can do to help...
Wait wait wait wait WAIT So...... the iron fleet last week, instant dragon kill, this week instantly killed by one dragon
Has Lena said more than two sentences this season? I feel like all she’s done is stare out of a window HOW DO WE KNOW SHE HASNT ACTUALLY BEEN A GOOD QUEEN?!
I like the broad strokes of where the story has gone, and I think the show foreshadowed most of this in an appropriate way. But the pacing is causing everything to be incredibly strained. I think when we look back on the show, we’ll see D&D’s decision to cut back on seasons 7 and 8 as a major unforced error that could have been avoided. I’m still positive on the show, but the missed opportunities have been numerous.
Very strange. Wonder if that was intentional or not. I’m super relieved they didn’t change his name off screen.
This is playing out like they had an outline of events and just hit those scenes without knowing how to connect it all properly This will hopefully all read a lot better in the books
It’s sort of weird that the CGI-filled scenes of brutal destruction could be so effective but the Euron/Jaime fight scene was completely incoherent.
I also feel like the endgame being about the true horrors of war and how power corrupts and violence shouldn’t be celebrated (if they actually commit to that idea) is always going to be undone somewhat by how many times they leaned on torture porn or flirted with revenge being fun throughout the series. It is fitting with a lot of ideas that have been expressed in small moments throughout the show and certainly in the books from what I’ve seen, but I don’t know if the execution adds up. They’ve always had issues with whether or not an action is portrayed as monstrous or heroic being very arbitrary, especially with Dany now. I’m super curious to see what note and message they actually end on and how well that comes together at the last minute.
