I really enjoyed a lot of the fan theories for this show tbh (not Bran being the fucking night king or some strange obscure thing that is impossible) but talks about the prophecies from the books/etc. Those were fun to read imo

 

I honestly don’t think this show was ever going to have an ending that would’ve pleased everyone.

Everybody should love Sansa but unfortunately men exist.

 

Like I said last week, there are too many factions of fans with too many hopes/predictions for how it would end for the show to be able to please more than like a quarter of them at best.

 

I’ve long moved past the idea that this show is high art or was high art at some point, whatever, etc... so I now enjoy it purely on a visceral level and try not to worry about things feeling earned or whatever. Some things will stick in my craw, sure, but overall I just want to be entertained and this week was awesome. My hopes cant be dashed because they’re not all that high in the first place.

 

Enjoyed it. This show has always had glaring flaws. It’s not some all time great show, but I’ve had fun watching it. It’s obnoxious to see people be so excessively critical partly because things aren’t panning out exactly the way they expected/wanted. Reminds me of when Don Draper says, "People tell you who they are, but we ignore it - because we want them to be who we want them to be." We knew who Jamie and Dany were this whole time.

 

if after seeing dany destroy the city he doesn't take a boat and live the rest of his life sailing and exploring the world then idk

 

I think the people that are happy and the people who are livid don’t actually differ that much in their opinions on the episode itself, just on what kind of show this is and what matters.

 

So I usually host about 6 or so friends to watch these episodes together, and most of them were saying the same thing. They really thought it was hinted well that Dany would kill innocents at this scale and I disagreed. It's just funny that they and I could disagree about something so vehemently, especially since I just rewatched the show. I'm not mad or anything because it's just a show, but I just think it's wild how people can see the same thing so differently.

 

As someone who has not read the books, how hard was R+L = J to put together? Since that fan theory was obvious correct, I could see that putting a false sense of entitlement into the fan theory crowd.

 

Or, you know, go home to his fucking family

 

Remember that whole thing in s4-5 when Dany is so filled with regret over her dragons killing a single kid that she takes the creatures she perceives as her children and permanently chains them down in a dungeon

Or how for a whole season she risks a full blown rebellion rather than entertain the idea of having slaves kill each other for the entertainment of others

But yep she's clearly long been so corrupt with power that she couldn't give a shit how it affects others

 

If a Davos spinoff happens I’m obligated to watch.

 

And it's just him eating stew in silence with his wife for a full hour.

 

I forget, is Robyn still alive?
