I still have no idea what to think of Westworld after Season 2.

I love that we'll still have a show being scored by Djwandi when GOT ends though

I loved BLL. Sharp Objects is something else you might have time for. So much of the best stuff is a pretty big time commitment.

Anyone have any experience using HBOGo/Now overseas? Trying to figure out if I can use the app over here, basically.

  4. If not just use a vpn. You can probably get a free trial with Nord VPN.

That's where I'm at now, so perfect intel, haha. Back to the good ol' Wootly when I wake up tomorrow.

Weirdly when I was in Mexico last week it wouldn’t work on Wifi but was fine on my phone using LTE

Here for the Sharp Objects and Big Little Lies love. I also recommend High Maintenance. I liked TD season 3 but recognize it had its issues. If anything, its a joy to watch Mahershala Ali act his ass off.

I would actually recommend watching all 3 seasons of True Detective as long as you go in knowing that Season 2 is deeply flawed.

I’m only liking for the first half of that comment, lol. I’m hard on the “only watch TD season 1 and even that is flawed” train. Especially if you’re on a time crunch.

True Detective is right up my alley, flaws and all. My take on the seasons is:

    Season 1: ★★★★★
    Season 2: ★★
    Season 3: ★★★★

Did you watch TD Season 3...???

  15. I'm out on Westworld. Season 2 meandered and had huge pacing issues imo.

If we’re just talking great shows on HBO, besides the obvious The Sopranos and The Wire, Boardwalk Empire is fantastic (even though I’ve never finished it) as is The Leftovers. If you’re into lighter stuff, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Insecure both land in my favorite comedy shows of all time. Room 104 is also very underrated (not a comedy, hard to describe but surreal anthology show)

Oh yeah. That’s a two star if there ever was one. One for the acting and one for a lot of the cinematography. Otherwise bleeeeech.

  18. In some great news: absolutely no leaks from tonight’s episode. No screenshots or anything.

My hope has been restored by about 2%

I could rattle off ten must sees on HBO without blinking. I’m always rewatching something I feel like.

    Really enjoying Fire & Blood.

Had no idea that the Targaryen’s created King’s Landing. That’s cool.

I’m so nervous. All I wanted was a screenshot or two to confirm or deny the worst leaks, now I’ll be on pins and needles!

I was ultimately disappointed in a lot of it but I definitely enjoyed it a whole lot more than you did. I certainly thought it was worthwhile. I think structuring it as a mystery and teasing the audience too much hurt it a lot for me. I know the mystery is never the entire point but it really was such a nothing that leaning into those aspects was a big mistake I think.

I could rewatch Seasons 1 & 3 simply for the performances from McConnaughey & Harrelson and Ali & Dorff alone.

(The only spelling on those last names I have confidence I didn't mangle is 'Ali'.)

  23. They botched the end of TD season 1 which prevents me from ever watching it again even though I really enjoyed Matt and Woody in it

S3 also has some lines that are up there with bad poosey in terms of awfulness. And that’s not even getting into S2.......

Did we recommend Six Feet Under yet? I feel like we must have. Look, basically you’re going to need to keep that subscription a little longer.

It’s interesting reading about the Aegonfort and how it morphed from a wooden hall into Kings Landing.
