Out of all the fictional universes, this is probably the one I would want associated with my life permanently the least. Like no matter how the specific character turns out it’s still sooooo bleak.
I also have a family member named after THIS show. Only that was less intentionally for the character and more that they already liked the name and were rewatching while coming up with ideas.
Did the two people's personalities mesh well coincidentally? Haha I need to watch it again. I'm imagining it would be even better and more soul crushing that my one and only full watch.
I feel like Sandor is worse than Gregor! Also, out of names like Emilia Clarke, Kit Harrington, Liam Cunningham, Nathalie Emanuel, John Bradley, Sophie Turner, Maisie Williams, etc I wouldn’t have thought Peter Dinklage was the American.
Oh well I mean Gregor is much better as an actual name, but naming your kid specifically after The Mountain?!
Yeah same here. I'm just anticipating that some of it will be predictable and some of it will come out of nowhere, but hopefully it all gets wrapped up in a way that doesn't make me absolutely hate the show (leak reactions have me scared though). I still feel....underwhelmed, I guess regarding the Night King's story (EP 3 and the battle was awesome though) so the overall ending has me a little intrigued as far as what they can get wrong or right. Edit: Also, do you think anyone has named their dog "The Hound"?
I think there are definitely some parts of the leaks that could be absolutely fine in context but sound bad on paper. There’s really only one aspect that I don’t think could be justified in any possible way, and that’s what I really really hope was fake just to get people angry. The rest is probably a mix of true and fake and will come down to the writing......
Right, I feel like if I would have seen the overall plot for A LOT of this show just written down on paper in an abbreviated format, I would have thought it was awful haha. So maybe people won't feel as strongly once whatever it is actually happens (if it does at all)?
Will anyone revisit this once it's over and you can just watch it all without any breaks? I probably won't, but I wonder if it would help the pacing issues if you can just binge it.
I think there are a few episodes I might throw on every now and then out of context, but that’s about it.
I doubt I will for this only because I have been trying to watch the whole series for years now and haven't managed to do it, but I know for other things I have watched - like True Detective - I enjoy them much more when I can watch them straight through on my schedule and don't have to wait.
I actually went through most of the old episodes in the week leading up to the start of this season. I'm not sure whether I'll find myself revisiting it once it's done, though.
All this talk about the books has me intrigued to reread them. I haven’t read them since about... 2016(?) or so. And I don’t remember shit about them. Maybe that’s what I’ll do this summer.
