One of the most memorable chapters for me was the one immediately after Blackwater before he's rescued. No way they could've possibly do that in the show since it was all internal but it's so good.
Blackwater was probably my favorite episode until I got to Kissed by Fire. Davos just came out of nowhere and made me fall in love with him. That may still be my favorite battle episode. I’m sure it would break my heart to read his internal struggle after that.
I completely agree. Which is hilarious because he's probably the most far off from the books, casting wise.
Liam Cunningham is also just spectacular. Wind That Shakes the Barley and his scene in Hunger are both terrific.
Yeah I’d say it’s prob the worst of the 5 but I still enjoyed it a lot and don’t think it’s that far begins the others like a lot of other fans act like it is. I honestly thought Dance was more of a slog. I feel like the Meereen chapters especially would just kinda go on forever sometimes. It was 3-4 years ago but I feel like I got through Feast pretty quickly.
Lol yeah I feel like he’s way more gruff and pirate-y in the book. But I may be letting Roy Dotrice’s audiobook version color my perspective there. Btw, the unabridged audiobooks with Roy Dotrice are fucking brilliant and if you wanna read the books but take the easy way out and cheat, those are a good way to go. Really a bummer he died before he could finish off the series. Not sure who they’ll get that will be anywhere close to as good. Harry Lloyd did a good job with the Knight of the Seven Kingdoms book but he doesn’t do the voices like Roy did.
Yeah I think middle age is way aged down in the books just like everyone else. I’m pretty sure Ned is like 35 but is described like Sean Bean’s definitely pushing 50 Ned Stark lol
Don’t make me get negative in this thread again! I said what I said. (Tommen is very useful but beard stroking joy is TOO PURE.)
All of those felt very necessary. Davos being older was a genius change by the showrunners. Similar to Charlie from LOST.
Does he not have an adult son in the books or is it just one of those creepy age things that’s best not to talk about?
Yeah I just looked it up and it appears he’s roughly 40 in the books (at least his wiki says he was born in 260 AC), but in the show it def feels like he’s supposed To be pushing 55-60
I know what you’re referring to but this still almost gave me a heart attack at the thought of Lost source novels.
haha sorry. I love the casting story behind LOST and it's exactly how things should be done. That was gonna be a white ass show before the casting department got involved.
Oh ok. That’s better knowing he isn’t actually 30, because even for this series that math for him being an adult was stressing me out.
lol so his wiki says 260AC, which would make him 39 by the time we see him in the books, and apparently Mathos is actually his 3rd born...but no idea how old he is. Davos’ 5th born is Devan and he is 12 at the start of the books and serving as Stannis’ squire
