I'm still entertained by it at every second that it's on, but yeah, I have to pull myself back from nitpicking nowadays when I used to effortlessly love it. Kind of sucks, but all I'm hoping for is that these last two episodes leave me not feeling 100% disappointed. That's about all I can ask lol
the decline isn’t even that much overall. there are a few scenes that are out of place and dumb. that’s been the case in every season of this show and every season of every prestige show ever haha. lots of hyperbole flying around.
I still think the show is great and like I said a few times I think it’s still highly entertaining. I do think the extreme sped up plot has made it easier for others to not like it. It’s def suffering from a combo of getting to the endgame, which is almost always a little lighter on plot building, AND a super sped up plot. It’s still in GOAT territory for me but I could def see myself downgrading it if the landing doesn’t feel like it’s been stuck. I still think the plot moved at a decent pace last season, and now tht we see what it looks like when it’s REALLY sped up, it kind of makes me laugh at those complaints about Season 7 lol.
It’s all anecdotal from our own experiences of course, but all the people I know in real life have been just as vocally annoyed as the majority of the internet. It’s not one monolithic opinion, but of all the weeks this seems to have the most common thread of unhappiness no matter where you stand. It’s still nowhere near UUU though, and it being the worst ever is absolutely an exaggeration.
Yeah, I feel the same way. It's just easier to notice when there are things you don't like because now we're at the point where there's only really ONE storyline per episode. Even as late as S5 or S6 you had tons of things going on simultaneously. If you hated one part or were bored, someone else's story could potentially redeem the episode for you. Now we're at the point where they've loaded up on THE story, THE ending and that's it. So much pressure and so many things to get right.
Every time I remember the HIMYM ending I get mad again. Dexter’s just makes me laugh that it’s real, I still can’t believe it. That final shot is just another level and it’s hysterical. The REAL crime of HIMYM was that slap episode in the final season though. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a show age so terribly so quickly and fall off of my personal favorites list so hard.
Tyrion: *makes another eunuch joke* Varys: Here’s my impression of the last time you were with a woman. I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m trying to delete it.
This was actually from when everyone said they hadn’t seen any other TV shows and now I’m dead forever.
I'm still enjoying the show well enough, but also I read those leaks and lol if that's how this whole thing ends, yiikes
I was talking about this in PMs, and at this point I’m really glad that I read them because if they’re real I’m happy that I know ahead of time to peace out, and if they’re fake then the ending is almost guaranteed to impress me by default for not having it be THAT.
I feel like knowing ahead of time will help soften the disappointment if they are true whislt leaving open the possibility to be surprised if things play out differently.
I'm still hard skeptical about them. Idk how much faith I have left in the writers, but the stuff in that thread was almost nonsensical. that said if I'm wrong, hoo boy internet gonna be a wild for a couple days
My friends are all enjoying it. We complain about certain aspects here and there, but most of our discussion between episodes is gushing about the great moments, theorizing about the next ep, and sharing memes.
Oh yeah it would be a bloodbath. The ones from yesterday are the first that I really don’t buy at all, mostly out of sheer hope and will that they wouldn’t. Lol. The rest definitely seem to make “sense” even if they wouldn’t be satisfying in some ways. There’s also some discussion going on that maybe a few names are flipped throughout all of them, which would definitely make some parts more believable and less awful. There’s really only one thing mentioned so far that if it happens in any way I will be untethered and my rage will know no bounds.
I am not reading no spoilers don't know where they are and will not seek them out. But I think some things seem pretty 'predictable' at this point because of how much they've had to tip their hand with the fast moving plot. Like they laid on the on goodbyes to Jon pretty thick like he was gonna die, so I lean towards that def not happening now. I think Dany dying odds have gone up considerably after episode 4. CleganeBowl is happening. Cersei isn't making it out alive. Jaime is prob dying either killing Cersei or trying to get her out of the city to surrender and live. Tyrion....fuck man I didn't see any reason why he'd die but now with him and Varys openly talking treason, it's def set up for him to get caught somehow. Question is whether Dany lives long enough to catch him in the act. Arya still has a part to play but I have no idea what it is. I guessed a couple days ago that an impetus for Jon to kill Dany is if he finds out Arya is in the city while Dany is going all Mad Queen. If that happens, no way in hell Jon stays to take the throne. He either abdicates right away for a democratic resolution of some sort, or becomes Drogon char/food. No idea if anything "happens" with Sansa, she seems destined to be the Lady of Winterfell. I guess if Jon abdicates and a democratic thing happens, she could be part of the counsel or be elected leader or something. No idea what happens to Brienne and Pod either. I remember after Season 6 assuming that Cersei was gonna be the one to go full Mad Queen after what she did to the Sept of Baelor. But now I think Dany is more likely.
