If The Hound had said what his brother did to him was fine because it made him who he was the internet would have exploded.

Apparently Emilia Clarke or someone said on the after-episode segment that Dany just “forgot” about the Iron Fleet in that last episode....???

Dropping in to say The Sopranos is the best show of all time!

(*Edited to add that I only watched 10 seconds of that before posting and thought it was just the actual after-show recap thing and not what it actually is.)

Yeah, if it had been Emilia that would have been forgivable. As it is, yikes.

When the hound says there’s only one thing that would make him happy - I have to think that one thing is killing his brother. Would be disappointing if we don’t get some type of interaction/fight between the two.

Thinking about the Wire just bums me out because no other show I’ve seen is near as good. Even the best ones.

Mad Men comes closest and I’m slowly making my way through s1 of the Sopranos so maybe I can catch that high again soon.

Between that and last season straight up saying to him “you know what’s coming for you, you’ve always known,” or whatever, I’d be pretty shocked if there isn’t a fight

That scene with them seemed so strange, I guess partly because The Mountain can’t react to anything anymore so it felt like such an emotional moment wasted on a meat sack. I’m sure they will end up fighting before it’s done.

Yeah, Clegane Bowl definitely is happening IMO

Lol ya I think a lot of emotional weight is lost with him basically being a zombie, but I guess it’ll still be satisfying?

    Not here. Isn't happening. Supporter

The Sopranos is the only show I’ve seen that is on par with the Wire. You should be hopeful!
I would also say Mad Men comes closest behind those two. Deadwood is close as well. Twin Peaks was just an awesome experience and it’s hard to compare it to other shows.

Lol, Twin Peaks is such a batshit crazy (and amazing) show that I can't in good conscious put them in a conversation with any of these other shows. It truly is its' own thing. And that's wonderful.

I'm all in on Clegane Bowl, but it's an even sillier premise in the book considering it's Gregor's body with a different person's head/maybe no head

    Spanakopita!

This is definitely just a side note to that whole scene (and I almost didn’t want to point it out), but it’s also ironic that Sansa said that to The Hound of all people. One of their only scenes together had him saving her from the guys trying to rape her in Kings Landing. That’s just....a weird thing to say to him.

I hope its quick, not into a long drawn out scuffle between two characters i care so little about at this point.

Agreed, I don’t even consider Twin Peaks when thinking about “golden age” television. But it’s astounding.

I need to give Deadwood a watch. After Sopranos, maybe.

And also, like, the hound and arya literally are just leaving from winterfell on horseback - i know this show is so, so, so bad at real-time travel but like, theyre 2 weeks from kings landing...

The Sopranos, The Wire, and Deadwood are definitely the holy trinity for a reason.

Agreed that Twin Peaks is exceptional but almost impossible to categorize alongside anything else.

I think Mad Men is better than The Sopranos, but only because Sopranos came first and basically created the model that Mad Men and all other "prestige tv" was able to rip off. The Sopranos as a whole is amazing, but they fell on their face when it came to some particulars, and when they did they fell pretty hard by today's standards. With Mad Men it's like every little detail was taken into account (one of my favorite things to read after each ep was the "Mad Style" reviews that went through each scene and discussed the minute motifs related to the clothing, body language, and other design choices that I would have never picked up myself)

Also just on the face of it, it seems incredibly more difficult to make a show about 60s advertising interesting (and, as I said, as absurdly visually accurate as it was to the time it takes place in) compared to one about modern day mobsters, so point for Mad Men there as well lol

Sopranos will always be a more important show but Mad Men is more impressive, I s'pose

I made sure to mention that the last two seasons felt like an after thought and like off shoots of the show since it wrapped up in season 3. BB and the Shield both come full circle and feel more complete. In that way, I think they are better but The Wire does rule so I'm good either way.

I feel like this season is just cliff notes of what should be like 2-3 full seasons. Feels like they just got tired of doing the show and decided to wrap it up ASAP.
