Y’all complaining about the secret getting spilled in 10 seconds do realize that’s probably one of the most realistic things the show has ever done, right? No ducking way a secret like that stays secret, and everyone including Dany knows it. That kind of tea misses the cup entirely and splashes all over the floor.
I'm hoping Dany's arc ends in redemption and growth. Narratively that's just more interesting than the cynical, nihilistic route of the mad queen. She's at a low point this episode, losing Missandei, Jorah and another dragon and functionally losing Jon in a land where no one trusts her and she doesn't feel she can trust the closest ally she has left in Tyrion. I would like to see that low point manifest itself in introspection and realization that she can't control everything, but as of right now that doesn't look like what's being dramatized. Bu I think Jon dies, and Dany comes around to a place where she lets the north be its own kingdom with Sansa as their queen. Also wouldn't be surprised if Arya dies.
Alright, might end up being a hot take, but fuck it: Dany and Jon both die in the final battle to usurp Cersei. Arya kills Jamie thinking he will defect back to Cersei betray everyone he fought with in Winterfell. She wears his face and stealth kills Cersei, fulfilling the prophecy and gaining some revenge for the Starks (those fencing lessons sure did pay off!). Then, out of the fuckin' shadows,The Mountain appears and brutally, disgustingly murders her. Clegene finds out about this and kicks off Cleganebowl. They both die, but Clegane kills The Mountain. A lot of characters die, and it's impossible for me to know exactly who makes it out aliv eand who doesn't, but I think before its over we'll get at least one tragic moment that rivals scenes like Ned's beheading and The Red Wedding. After the blood and dust settles, the iron throne - the cause of most if not all of the conflict in the series - is destroyed in the end. Tyrion, along with Bran, Sam, Sansa, and several more benevolent, thoughtful characters become a new council. They rule in a way that preserves the wheel-breaking philosophies that Jon and Dany were fighting for. Keeping alive a song of both ice and fire, you might say. Also 'A Song of Ice and Fire' will be the title of the last episode!
Just starting this. And I’m drunk Leave Gendry alone Dany! Oh wait never mind Don’t put that idea in her head Varys Fuckin Pod Jealous much, Jaime? I bet Brienne could have kicked Jaimes ass in his prime I don’t buy that Dany loves Jon. She loves him like I love pizza. Like I love it, but I’m not gonna marry it or anything Chill Dany! Dammit Bran. Keep your stares out of it. Don’t you fuckin do it Bronn Fuck yeah, Hound and Arya 2.0. Clegane is getting too old for this shit This is so gonna end with Sansa killing Dany and the wheel in the sky keeps on turning Motherfucker that’s ghost. He’s had your back since day one. And you’re just giving him away? How is it that you can make a dragon look like I can reach out and touch it but a fuckin wolf looks like some metal gear solid PS1 graphics? Way to go Jon, now you lost both your pets. Do it Jaime. Bring Cersei’s head to Sansa One day I wanna walk around with a million pockets to put my hands in like Varys I thought Missandei would die last week but I knew she was dead.
Man I totally forgot about that. It would be like just a random line then cut to another random line from a different character. Missandei. Because the rest are all still alive.
Cersei and Dany taking each other out would be a rather poetic end. Would be a nice callback to E1 with the Direwolf and Stag who fought each other to the death only this time with Lion/Dragon.
My scattered thoughts: - I thought for sure Tyrion was going to die when he walked up to the wall to talk to Cersei directly, my heart was pounding that entire time. I thought Missandei was going to die last week so I wasn't really surprised that she died now, still super sad though - Dany is going to be fully unhinged next week I think. Not only is she getting jealous/wary of Jon, she now just lost Rhaegal and Missandei right in a row - I'm so glad it seems like Tormund is gonna live. He's one of my favorite characters but I really hope that was his final apperance - Definitely still think Jaime kills Cersei - I knew Varys was gonna become important in the second half of the season - My theory for the rest of the show (spoilers just in case) They succeed in killing Cersei next episode and put Dany on the throne. In episode 6, Dany, fully power hungry now, makes some kind of move to try (or maybe even succeed?) to silence/kill Sansa, expecting Jon to be onboard, but he's not and kills her, making him the reluctant holder of the throne. Maybe he destroys the throne? I really loved this episode btw
I do feel sympathy for Dany when I think about the overall situation she’s in. -Jorah, Missandei, and Grey Worm were her closest allies/friends in the world and in two eps she’s lost two of them, plus Grey Worm isn’t really a “friend” anyway. -Tyrion and Varys are the only others who actually knew what she was like in Meereen but she’ll clearly never fully trust them (rightfully so). -Jon is the only other person who actually gives a shit about her but he’s a moron who’s stuck between her and his family and also her potential usurper even if he doesn’t want it. -Literally nothing political has gone well for her since coming to Westeros. She’s lost most allies, two dragons, and most of her army, and doesn’t have shit to show for it. If I were in the same spot I’d definitely feel extremely paranoid of everyone around me, and also a combination of vengeful/apathetic. Like at this point she definitely cares way more about personal vengeance than taking the throne
I forgot to say that Bronn really was a dick this episode. I somewhat felt like he was just trying to convince himself he hated both of them so that he could do it guilt free. But also he’s always been a selfish dick haha. Lord Bronn Blackwater of Highgarden tho. Also, I feel like next episode should be called “The Dragon and the Lion”, right?
It's a bummer we only got a one liner of yara taking back the iron islands. Wonder if we will get anything related to her reaction regarding theon.
