My heart was leaping with joy at the Hound/Sansa reunion, so when I went back to watch it again, I had missed that Podrick goes off with both girls, his arms around them at the end. Haha.
I am impulsive and want revenge okay don’t @ me BURN THEM ALL. I think overall I’m still team King Jon, but...not today. I’m also team democracy if they both die somehow but I can’t see that happening.
In the recap thing the showrunner with the beard definitely makes it sound like they intended to convey that Jaime was going back to be with Cersei again. "As much as Jaime cares for Brienne...he's got almost an addiction to Cersei that he just can't break. So even though he's given a chance at happiness and some sort of different life for himself, he can't take, he makes the choice to go back to Cersei."
I’m glad they finally had them interact after so long, but that scene had the worst line of the entire episode by far. Really upset with how they took that.
I get that the Hound's whole thing is being pessimistic and hating everything but it's like jfc dude stop being an asshole to everyone for like one minute, damn
I am forever cackling at Jon telling Dany that it would be a good idea to tell his sisters who he really is. “Hey so yeah, I know my sister super hates you and doesn’t trust you and whatever and you clearly don’t like or trust her, but here me out. What if I tell her that I’m really the rightful heir to the thrown instead of you, ya know? I think that’ll really get her on your side and not make her look suspiciously at you and want you dead more than she already does, no way. You agree?”
We’re all aware Dany would be a terrible ruler right? She is going to kill thousands of innocent people and be just as awful as Cersei. At least Cersei knows she is terrible You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain and all that
Y’all complaining about the secret getting spilled in 10 seconds do realize that’s probably one of the most realistic things the show has ever done, right? No ducking way a secret like that stays secret, and everyone including Dany knows it. That kind of tea misses the cup entirely and splashes all over the floor.
I'm hoping Dany's arc ends in redemption and growth. Narratively that's just more interesting than the cynical, nihilistic route of the mad queen. She's at a low point this episode, losing Missandei, Jorah and another dragon and functionally losing Jon in a land where no one trusts her and she doesn't feel she can trust the closest ally she has left in Tyrion. I would like to see that low point manifest itself in introspection and realization that she can't control everything, but as of right now that doesn't look like what's being dramatized. Bu I think Jon dies, and Dany comes around to a place where she lets the north be its own kingdom with Sansa as their queen. Also wouldn't be surprised if Arya dies.
Alright, might end up being a hot take, but fuck it: Dany and Jon both die in the final battle to usurp Cersei. Arya kills Jamie thinking he will defect back to Cersei betray everyone he fought with in Winterfell. She wears his face and stealth kills Cersei, fulfilling the prophecy and gaining some revenge for the Starks (those fencing lessons sure did pay off!). Then, out of the fuckin' shadows,The Mountain appears and brutally, disgustingly murders her. Clegene finds out about this and kicks off Cleganebowl. They both die, but Clegane kills The Mountain. A lot of characters die, and it's impossible for me to know exactly who makes it out aliv eand who doesn't, but I think before its over we'll get at least one tragic moment that rivals scenes like Ned's beheading and The Red Wedding. After the blood and dust settles, the iron throne - the cause of most if not all of the conflict in the series - is destroyed in the end. Tyrion, along with Bran, Sam, Sansa, and several more benevolent, thoughtful characters become a new council. They rule in a way that preserves the wheel-breaking philosophies that Jon and Dany were fighting for. Keeping alive a song of both ice and fire, you might say. Also 'A Song of Ice and Fire' will be the title of the last episode!
