This is a very good point. I did always sorta assume that was like a comment on how petty and dumb people can be though, squabbling over who sits on the throne while we slowly all get wiped out by the real threat.

 

I think it still could be tbh. They spent so much time squabbling and not preparing for the real threat that, when the threat finally came, they took far heavier casualities than necessary and the result is bittersweet.

 

Oh and POC suffer the most.

I think the biggest question mark for me is Sam, just going turtle on the back, kinda surprised he survived that. But for most of the others, I kinda just accept they were helping each other as they fought together like we saw early on with Jaime and Brienne or Edd and Sam.

I can't get Lyanna's anguished scream of pain and anger as she charged the giant and the face she made. It's heartbreaking the more I think about it, just so damn brave and savage and stood with her people.

And in addition Lyanna, Ed, Jorah and Theon, we also lost Lady Mel. Unfortunately they never introduced us properly to Qhono but it sucked seeing him revived as a wight too. There were definitely a lot of deaths to go around, I think people just expected one of Jon, Dany, Jaime, Brienne, Arya, Sansa, or Tyrion to die, or if not one of their trusty side kicks (Tormund, Gendry, Pod, Sam) and since that didn't happen, people are kind of shrugging off the deaths taht did IMO.

And TBH I think most all of those characters are safe for the duration now except for the big three (Jon, Dany, Tyrion)...I think at least one of them dies and possibly 2 of them.

 

This is also wild to me. Not only is the scenario of a show outpacing its own source material unique, but an author giving away one of the greatest twists in his own story to another writer for a separate work??

 

I agree with this. I think one of those three are dead by the end. Maybe two.

I’m expecting more “main” deaths at the hands of Euron/The Mountain/GC than we got from the dead.

 

I'm guessing it's Jaime killing Cersei. Not sure what other holy shit moment we could have at this point, unless it's something more tame like Dany dying.

 

Everyone is talking about how hard the focus on the walkers will be on rewatch, but what about the poor Dothraki just being completely obliterated?? There are like entire years of Dany’s story that are just pure tragedy through and through now.

I also saw a tweet that reminded me this team is trying to do that alternate history Confederate show and there is just not enough yikes in the world.

 

Not to beat a dead horse, but when Brienne first got knocked down during the initial charge of the wights, the foley work and the way she was screaming really, really, really sounded to me like she was dead and they were ripping her apart.

 

I'm choosing to believe that some Dothraki and Unsullied were left behind to hold Dragonstone and, possibly, Casterly Rock.

I also think more people survived the battle than we realized. PRobably a few hundred soldiers left at a minimum.

 

Yeah my heart jumped in my throat when I heard her screaming, luckily I think she wast just freaked the fuck out by a bunch of dead people being on top of her trying to get through her armor haha

Yeah I'm really just hoping that Benioff and Weiss get spread too thin and decide to can their slavery fanfic show. I have no idea how they could possibly be focusing on that idiotic/irresponsible idea when they're working on multiple GoT spin-off ideas plus developing a trilogy of Star Wars movies. I feel like that's the only way it's going to get scrapped at this point, clearly the vocal backlash wasn't enough.

 

They are not in on any of the GOT spinoffs from what I remember. Kinda sucks that neither they or cogman will be in considering how much they are nerds for the world, but hopefully the other pitches are also from woiaf nerds

 

Oh, well I guess that's where they're getting all this free time that they're using in one of the worst ways imaginable lol
