I guess they were more B tier characters. But still main.

Probably something like this and definitely forgetting some.

A: Jon, Dany, Cersei, Jamie, Arya, Sansa, Tyrion, Bran
B: Jorah, Theon, Brienne, Davos, Hound, Sam, Bronn
C: Edd, Beric, Yara, Mel, Pod, Varys, Euron

 

I think Brienne dying would've been very significant and emotional, but I'm also glad she didn't die so she'll be around to see whatever happens in King's Landing

Also no way Theon and Jorah aren't main characters

 

They better just all live at this point.

 

alfie is best used in small doses, this episode is a great example of that. idk any point in the series where he "carried" the show.

Is killing off random “tier 1” characters a good thing? Just to reach some kind of quota?

 

We did some out loud thinking about this a few pages ago, I think in the show world they definitely are all gone

It would be super random for people to die in the final battle between life and the literal avatar of the death of humanity

 

There is still nearly 4 hours left of the show. We’ll get the deaths.

 

Yeah I mean I'm not necessarily trying to strictly categorize them I'm just trying to reference a rough idea of these things to get my point across

 

The previews for next week show Euron getting down on one knee lol

Also I hope we get appropriate goodbyes to Theon, Edd, and Lady Lyanna.

 

i hope the whole episode is just people carting corpses into graves. i hope thats the whole rest of the show

 

They'd need to add another full season to get them all done

 

The possibilities for crossover are endless. I already made my Trojan joke earlier. More must be done.

 

Yeah I don't get the complaint at all. Don't know why you would want good characters/characters you like to die haha

 

"Man, sucks I spent seven years with this character and they didn't die horribly."

 

Also, not sure I saw this mentioned, Brienne's screams of anguish were worse than any death in this episode.

 

When that first wave of wights came rushing in I thought for sure Sam and Brienne were goners.

 

Yeah, for sure. If them dying serve a huge purpose to the story or development of other characters, sure. But imagine if that episode was the same but Brienne died in that battle. Pretty shallow, imo

 

I definitely hope that everyone living through this has a point/resolution/they survive totally/something, because arbitrarily deciding that they survived an absolute guaranteed death trap simply because it’s episode 3 instead of episode 5 or 6 is not a good look. Like we said earlier today, if some random Golden Company jabroni takes out Brienne or Grey Worm it will just be terrible after their survival was handwaved in this.

War and battles are random and should be written that way in my opinion. Of course all the main characters were going to survive, but statistically speaking it's nonsense imo.
