Your read of Jon is way off. I don't think he has ever though he is important. He is constantly being told by everyone around him that he's important to varying degrees.

Whether or not Jon Snow fulfills some sort of prophecy and ascends to Jesus-like deity status changes nothing about his worth. That's sort of a core theme of this entire series: Cripples, bastards, and broken things all have a role to play.

It's all based on that, in the books. The show has deviated plenty of times, in some ways better than others, and at the end of the show right now I don't feel that prophecy as the driving force of the show. The series adaptation has continued to remain more grounded than the books even after where they ended. Also we have 3 episodes left and 2 books which will both stand on their own merits i'm sure. He's 100% not gonna match the show that would be absurd.

I just want all the survivors in a big meeting where Dany’s like, “Ok y’all, here’s the battle plan. Get ready because this is the big one! For all the marbles!” and everybody just looks around for a while and then leaves.

It definitely won’t happen of course, but it would be so satisfying after what they’ve been through to just not care one single bit and go have a nap.

The legends/requirements about PTWP have to be more metaphorical than literal. I mean, if it were literal, it would have to be Daenerys, because Melisandre says "When the red star bleeds and the darkness gathers, Azor Ahai shall be born again amidst smoke and salt to wake dragons out of stone." in ADWD and she's obviously the only one that applies to lol

In show world I think as of right now we have to assume it is. Lyanna was head of the house which means, presumably, her mother (Dacey) and her Grandmother (Maege) are both dead. (and, in the show, I think they might have just cut Dacey out all together and said Maege was Lyanna's mother)

So unless there's a cousin or bastard or etc somewhere out there, I don't think there are any more Mormonts :'(

The Mormonts are my favorite House easily. The Starks are cool, but Jorah was an early on favorite and Lyanna/Jeor were both no bullshit leaders unswayed by confrontation.

This is not an original opinion but this episode really felt like the best bits of The Walking Dead at times.

  9. Don't think I ever said that he thought he was important? or that it determines his worth?? its just that the show led viewers to believe that he was possibly *the* definitively most important character - a literal prophecized savior - because of the prophecies, and then he just wasn't.

the prophecy is the driving force of the show in the sense that it foretold the coming of the dead and their desire to create the long night, and who would defeat them and what would indicate their awakening and coming invasion, and the reawakening of dragons etc...its pretty central.

and I'm not saying the books will follow the show 100% at all, I just said I think Arya (or someone not Jon Snow or Young Griff or other theorized Azor Ahai/ptwp) will kill the Night King and the prophecies and fan theories will end up having not been accurate in the books either

I agree with whoever it was that said the Night King smirking when he didn’t get burnt was cringe-levels of corny

Lol yeah she’s like “Okay now that we’re done with that nonsense, time to get ready for what really matters”

Then she gets the s2 Theon treatment

I believe the word is HBO turned down The Walking Dead because they thought it was too violent and didn’t think anyone would watch something so gory and bleak.....lol.

Walking Dead would have been so good on HBO, as this show has proven.

Now they just need to buy the rights to World War Z and do a miniseries true to the book.

Or viewers/book readers lead themselves to believe that based off clues that come from the books but not the show itself? The only character to tell Jon he's the Prince that was Promised is a character who previously got wrong her prediction for the Prince that was Promised.

The show has lead viewers to believe Jon is important because Jon is important, not because he may or may not be some prophetic figure.

  23. well no but its easier to say "tpwp was prophecized to kill the night king" than to try to talk more vaguely about defeating the dead in whatever way

I'm ready to see an actual trailer for HBO's Watchmen. Hopefully it's better than the movie.
