They had that whole awkward discussion about the gender of the person in the prophecy and it not being a perfect translation.

  3. Can we at least go back to this? We know it's happening now and we know who it's gonna be (Dany or Jon)

Dying didn’t make Ned unimportant, it just made him.... dead. Jon coming back and failing upwards again and again and still just being some random pouty kid at the end of the day would be incredible.

Yeah the dragons going at it was wild. I'm totally just projecting my feelings onto them but I still feel so bad for Viserion and now I feel bad for Drogon and Rhaegal that they had to fight their brother and try to kill him.

Still me whenever I've seen Viserion since last season:

  9. i gotta say i dont really understand guys, regardless of how much they said it, its the source of the legend about the long night, the living dead, the night king, the reviving people, all of melisandre's powers, is based on the azor ahai/ptwp prophecies

its not that it would make jon pointless, it just makes him not the prophecized savior/most important person ever

  10. Hopefully the last scene is at the Citadel and the maesters are just roasting Sam again. “WHERES THE PROOF SAM????”

Sam just drops a bag of ice on the table.

I should clarify; I don't care if Jon isn't the PTWP or whatever, but if he just ends up being completely inconsequential to the end game for the sake of having it be that way, that'll upset me. We've watched Jon for 8 seasons now and despite the fact that a lot of people don't like him, a lot of us do, and it would feel cheap if that just didn't matter because "lol whatever" like I said.

But I don't know how this ends, I don't know how I'll feel about it whatever way they do it. It's a bit too early to tell I suppose, they can definitely pull off any ending I don't see coming if it's done well I guess

The series ends with Jon on the throne with one of the dragons left. Sam walks up to him in the throne room and asks him for a favor.

Cut to: Sam and Jon on Rhaegal at the Citadel. Sam shouts "Here's your proof, fuckers" as Jon roasts them all alive while a sick metal riff wails in the background. The final shot of the series is the two of them flying toward the setting sun, with a freeze frame on Sam punching the air.

A big part of me really always thought The Night King was going to defeat everyone and be the last one standing.

Jon will 100% have a more climactic moment than he did in this past episode. The directors said that they felt it would be cheap to have Jon be the savior (again) and be able to get through all of Winterfell to run in and save the day. It would've been cheap and too predictable. The feeling of grief really set in when he got pinned behind the rock and the Night King was clearly reaching Bran before anyone else was. I kinda did suspend my beliefs of what was gonna happen and say to myself "What if he does succeed here?" and we'd see him leave with a few survivors left in the rubble to chase them to KL.

You're right they did, I totally forgot. Still only Melisandre who really harped on it the whole show though.

On top of that, I take it she recognizes the missteps and how she was very wrong consistently with what she thought would happen and her decisions (Marching on Winterfell, Stannis in general, sacrificing Shireen, needing to kill Gendry). Her later visions in the fire I feel made it clear she was realizing she misinterpreted things. Showing up to the battle fully understanding her purpose and what she really saw is what I got from this episode. She was redeemed and fulfilling her purpose and I loved. Screamed when she lit the moat on fire.

    Jon Snow:

    - Alerts the masses to the White Walker threat
    - Saves the Wildlings
    - Rebuilds a northern army
    - Leads the victory over the Boltons to reclaim Winterfell
    - Brings Dany into the fold
    - Leads the battle against the Army of the Dead
    - Finds out he's actually just as much a Targ with a claim to the throne as he is a Stark

If Jon ultimately ends up dead, or decides to go retire to that cave he and Ygritte got down in next Sunday, I don't know how you can say he was inconsequential to the end game. No matter how the end game comes to, all of that stuff plays a major factor in the way this shakes out, both for Jon personally and a lot of other characters

I don't really see how anyone can say he wasn't extremely important even if he literally does nothing else .

  21. good thing...no one said that

ok i kind of did, but i meant its what made other characters (mostly melisandre) think he was so important. its the reason he was revived, and the reason she attached herself to stannis earlier, etc

  22. Mike

Yeah, like Jon definitely did important shit and if he wants to just walk away and be like "fuck this" he still is very essential to the pay off of the show. I just don't want him to not have any part in what's to come because I like his character and I've been watching him forever, I guess. And again, I don't know how they're gonna pull off whatever they have in store so who knows how I'll feel about it when it's all said and done

In the books we only know of two more that I can think of, Lyannas mother and her Grandmother, who is Jeor’s sister and Jorah’s aunt. So Lyanna is technically Jorah first cousin once removed. I think.

But, anyway, we only saw one of those ladies at Robb’s crowning (Maege). In the book one of them, I believe Dacey, Maege’s daughter, was present at the Red Wedding. I don’t remember if we saw her in the show there.
