  1. Don't worry, people have quickly moved onto a "Bran is the Lord of Light" theory.

I'm still holding out hope that Varys is merman and the final battle is actually the landfolk vs the seafolk

I'm having a very slow work day and took a few to jump around the old pages of this thread. Dying laughing at people in 2016 saying the show sucked and is terrible because a 2 bloodhound dogs sent after Sansa disappeared and weren't confirmed killed. Them being scared by horses wasn't "good enough" Hilarious. We suck.

  4. Hopefully the last episode is just Bronn traveling north with a crossbow and he gets to an abandoned Winterfell and is just like "y'know what? Fuck it. This is my Castle now"

It’s veeerrrrry funny. Poor Jon just wants to be left alone and now there isn’t even a prophecy to make excuses for him needing to continue. Let him go off and start a farm or something.

I don't know, just because it's subverted doesn't automatically make it good like you guys seem to be suggesting. I don't think I have a problem with Arya killing the Night King but it's not just because "lol get fucked u all thought one thing was happening and now it didn't so that makes it better!!"

People are allowed to take time to come up with how they feel about things, doesn't mean they're not getting it or something

Its what I've been hoping for the whole time, assassin Arya just ends up killing everyone. Her story just hasn't felt the same since the jumbled story of her assassin training imo, which is probably the fault of the show outpacing the books there.

  10. its great, its the perfect encapsulation of what the entire point of the series has been since ned stark got executed, which is to constantly subvert every fantasy trope and learned expectation you have. i'm 99% sure its more or less exactly what grrm's vision is

PLEASE. He hasn’t done anything all season, this would make up for that. Time to get real silly.

  12. i mean it doesn't automatically make it *good* but makes it perfectly in line with the theme of the series. and people definitely are not getting it, look at these tweets Twitter

It's all stories, it's all bullshit. It's pretty cool to see. It's like one of my own personal theories about this world: that the Lord of Light was originally created to hide the fact that his "followers" were practicing blood magic. The whole religion started as, essentially, propaganda to sanitize what they were doing and prevent them from being hunted down and eradicated.

Depends....it's also important because it makes Jon the true heir and king of the seven kingdoms. Obviously the Azor Ahai/prince who was promised stuff is part of it but....It could also go down that way in the books where he really is the one to kill the Night King.. In the show, they've really made the Prince Who Was Promised stuff a very small side note, just something that followers of R'hllor believe, so it was a bit easier for them to ignore it and just have one of the badasses in the show be the one to kill the Night King.

I will say that Jon being so inconsequential in the Battle for the Dawn makes me think even more that he will have a huge roll in the fight for the Iron Throne and will ultimately end up King.

  15. I don't think ptwp is much more prevalent in the books? its not like its a folk legend for the whole world or whatever, pretty sure its still just rhllor followers.

But, really, do we think King Aegon "Jon "Snow" Stark" Targaeryn of the Seven Kingdoms is a reasonable outcome? is he gonna contest the throne, do we really think that? I don't think that has any chance of happening tbh

If anything he's going to be forced on the throne by default. Like Daenerys dies or something and he has no choice. Jon just isn't the kind of character who thirsts for power. The power he has had, he only wanted to help the people he cares about (the Night's Watch, Winterfell). Also he was raised by Ned Stark so of course he'd find any kind of skullduggery against Daenerys dishonorable.

  17. it would rule if i just said it has no chance of happening and then my expectations are subverted and it ends with him winning lol, that would be sick

It's been a while since I've read, but I feel like I remember it being mentioned more often in the books because Dany knows about it earlier. In the show, Dany doesn't really know a damn thing about it until Mel shows up in Season 7 and says it. In the books, she has the whole vision with Rhaegar and the quote about "he is the ptwp, and his song is the song of ice and fire", etc. They've really watered down Rhaegar's influence on everything for the show and what we know about him to the point where the only people I think we've ever actually heard bring up the prophecy is Lady Mel and the other Red Priestesses in Volantis.

Also, while Jon might not want it, I think he's got a LOT of Ned in him when it comes to honor, and if it is his duty to be the King and be a just ruler, he'll do it out of duty.

  19. Yeah I think Jon kinda ends up on it and gets another title he didn't want anything to do with and he's like "aw FUCK"

I don't think I'd be shocked at a Dany death at this point, maybe I would, I don't know.

Dipshit Euron will probably get someone (I honestly thought he'd die very early on)

If Jon ends up not even being important and doesn't even do anything in the endgame of this, I'll be a little pissed. I don't care if it's subverting or whatever, or if it matches the tone of expecting the unexpected that we've come to know with this show, I don't want a major character since episode one just going to the wayside because why not lol

I don't think that'll happen, but still. I am just really excited to see next week's episode and how we move on from here. So many questions!!!

Yeah, if i'm trying to do my best to recall, I can't really think of anyone who said Azor's name in the show once besides Melisandre. I'm pretty sure she only did so like twice at the most, but I could be wrong. "The prince that was promised" I don't recall being said ever though it could've been?

Jon Snow cheated getting that extra life, he shouldn't be on the throne in the end.

The only time it was said in the show, as far as I can remember, is Lady Mel saying Stannis was the Prince who was Promised to him once or twice, and then again when she repeats it to Dany in Season 7 and they have Missandei say that technically that word in valyrian doesn't have a gender so it could be prince OR princess.
