Just finished most of it again (skipped the beginning) The Theon part got me a lot more on a rewatch. What a journey for that character.
Jon not being the savior and building this perfectly to have been Arya without ignoring a single detail from previous seasons has me so happy. For us, and for the character. Everything we watched regarding the Faceless men feels rectified.
ARYA FUCKING RULES. Holy shit, I've never actually shouted "OH SHIT" at my TV before but I literally jumped up to my feet and did that. I don't care what anyone else says, the Night King's death could not have been better for me as a huge fan of Arya I can't believe this episode actually lived up to the hype for me but it did. My heart was pounding the entire time, and although I'm suprised less people died than we thought (thought we'd see the last of Brienne, Tormund, Podrick, Grey Worm/Missandei, maybe even Ghost), I sure didn't mind lol. After all some people still have to die in the battle against Cersei Haven't really seen anyone talk about these scenes yet but the scene with Arya in the library was incredibly intense and well-done, and I genuinely feared for her life there, and during the part where Sansa and Tyrion are hiding behind the tomb and that dramatic music started I was absolutely convinced we were about to see their shocking deaths, I'm so glad they lived through that Goddamn this shit was incredible
This episode is a bit like Infinity War... (possible Endgame spoilers --->) everyone expected deaths of major characters and it didn't happen. So, if Endgame is anything to go by, big character deaths are still to come and will probably hurt more
It was so much brighter watching through the Now app on my iPad than when I do the Now app through the fire stick. I actually saw everything.
So this makes at least 3 times in just the last few seasons that Jon Snow should've died Leeroy Jenkins style but he was saved by a much smarter woman. They've gotta stop letting him lead these armies! I bet the Dothraki charging into the darkness without even having proper weapons was all Jon's idea.
I hope the NK knows we appreciated his artistic interests and his sense of style. Also that smirk was the worst part of the episode. It’s such a specific human emotion to show for him and seemed super out of “character”. The fire sequence was awesome and then that just killed how interesting it was. I almost expected him to go full Madison Montgomery after it happened.
This entire episode was wickedly similar to how they shot and played out the battle in DH2. Was fully expecting a moment with Bran and the NK where Bran wargs into him and we get a better understanding of the White Walkers, a la Harry taking Snape’s memories to the pensieve.
I said the same thing! Lots of moments reminded me of other movies/shows last night. More than usual I’d say. It did seem weird that the wights appeared to have super sensitive hearing when I don’t remember that being established before. That scene was still fun though. The part with her hiding also reminded me a LOT of Haunting of Hill House.
Folks gotta stop bringing up endgame in non-endgame threads. Idc if you spoiler tag. I was busy this weekend!
Lets just hope that Sansa doesn’t use that dragonflass dagger right to Cersei’s chest, otherwise we may have a Night Queen on our hands
Obviously it would never happen, but when they did that shot of Sansa and Tyrion a small part of my heart stopped thinking they were about to do a suicide pact.
Still dreading the Jon is a Targarayen fall out we will have to deal with. Not interested in it at all.
