There were a couple of scenes that were dark but otherwise I think it was just an unrelenting army of the dead swarming over everything that made it hard at times to keep track of who was fighting who. Which is fine with me, I figured it’d be like that, pure chaos and such
Alright. Fantastic episode, and I have some thoughts..... Jorah almost made me weep. He loved Dany, and died showing it. Lady Moromont fucking went out KILLING. A. Fucking. Giant. Wight. THIS EPISODE WAS SOOOO GOOD, BUT THE LIGHTING WAS REALLLLLLY BAD I WAS SO UPSET 60% OF THE TIME BECAUSE I COULDNT SEE WHAT WAS HAPPENING. My main fear was they were gonna play it safe with who dies, and I was kinda right. Honestly I didn’t expect them to show Lady M dying, and Mel coming back....then how she died was poetic af. Though all the usual suspects had plot armor. Theon, Berric, and Jorah :((((( Also Bran I thought for sure was gonna warg into a Dragon. Again my fav part of the whole ep was Mel showing up, and contributing the way she did. Doesn’t excuse child murder.
I have a lot of questions now, mostly around Bran. Like does he become a little more normal now that the NK is dead? And what was he actually up to leading up to the end sequence?
The only person who survived that I was expecting to die was Brienne. Don’t know who else anyone should have really thought was going to die tonight. Pretty much everyone else still has stuff to do.
Battle of Winterfell MVP’s: 1) Arya 2) Mel 3) Lady M 4) Theon 5) Jorah Very surprised how Brienne was just there....esp aster last episode. Again THE LIGHTING WAS SO BAD SHE PROBABLY DID MORE THAT I DIDNT SEE!
Yeah, some of it was just literally too dark to make out what was happening but most of it came from the chaos mixing with the lighting. There were tons of scenes where I couldn’t tell if it was people or wights who were dying or if important characters were getting got or just random red shirts. Hardhome was kind of the same way, though that was a different color issue obviously.
yeah. they played it super safe with the deaths. Lyanna was the only death that was at all surprising, and there were a few characters that seemed destined to die that didn't. That being said, I think there might still be a few more casualties. Wouldn't be at all surprised if next episode starts with Missandei grieving a fallen Grey Worm and Brienne being mortally wounded and dying at some point during the episode. Both would be pretty fitting for their characters.
The lighting was flat, there were no dynamics to the colors, and the average shot length was probably less than a second. This show frustrates me sometimes. It also didn't need to be as long as it was but overall I liked the episode. Just enough bleakness and defeat to make the Arya moment really pop.
Yeah I The plot armor is running thick. Feel like I’ve seen Tormund ALMOST die like five times now hah.
