I don't think the Night King will go to King's Landing. He wants to kill Bran, he's still in the North for sure. Also, Cersei still has one final portion of her prophecy to fulfill.
We also still need Melisandre to appear (I guess next week or Episode 4 makes sense depending on what happens) And maybe Robyn Arryn saves the day like his Uncle Petyr
it does seem crazy that even though next week is almost 90 minutes, so much has to happen in the next 4-5 hours of show time.
I think Jaime maybe joked on the show about having a hook for a hand at one point, but honestly, never understand why he wouldn't actually do that for battles at the very least.
It's really amazing how claustrophobic this week's episode, and to a slightly lesser degree last week's episode, have felt. This is a show that has had the most epic scope imaginable for several years and now in the end it all comes down to the last remaining heroes making a final stand in one location for the fate of humanity. I love it.
That's how I felt about the scene, too. I'm fine with the character development, as she's been slowly reconnecting with feeling more emotions since returning from Bravos, but she's still that little girl from season 1 in my mind. Dany had a rough episode. It's increasingly evident that the majority of the characters are at Winterfell not because they want to fight for her, but because of Jon. She's spent years gaining followers outside of Westeros by doing things that inspire people to join her cause, like freeing slaves. But that only matters to the Westerosi because it matters to Jon. Finding out that he also has a better claim to the throne than her was probably the worst thing she could hear. Not because it means their intimacy is now dubious, but because her whole journey has been governed by the belief that she has the best claim.
This is another angle I hadn't even considered until now. Finding out that Jon has a stronger claim to the throne than her, when all of the people of Westeros she has interacted with already like and trust him more than her, is definitely something that must weigh heavy on her mind. Fear only gets you so far, love and respect goes way further.
I think once the dead come and destroy their home, the northern folk are going to be very relieved to see the dragons in battle (and probably be the reason the few still survive). She’ll win the northern folk over that way I’m thinking. Unrelated: Still very curious what Bran and Tyrion discussed. Isn’t there a major fan theory he’s ... ya know ... ?
I thought it was also interesting that Tyrion makes a comment about “surviving” after his talk with Bran
So much happened in this episode, but Bran throwing “the things we do for love” back at Jamie was easily my favorite part
They've shown before that Dany acknowledges that The Mad King was a terrible person/king, but in this moment she acts like she felt bad for him that he got "betrayed" by Jaime. I'm pretty sure she's just more bitter that Jaime aided in removing her family from power.....not actually angry at him for killing her father (even though that's what she pretends to be angry about). They just keep reinforcing how power-hungry she is and how much she wants the throne.
Yeah this is pretty obviously the case there, I think. I don’t see Daenerys as power-hungry though, at least not in the way I see a lot of people intending it.
I like how during their battle planning in this episode no one decides to point out that there’s a giant dead fucking dragon (unless I missed it)
Yeah I've noticed that as well. Also, how is the Godswood a good place to lure the Night King when he's going to be flying in on an undead dragon. You'd think they'd want to move Bran somewhere else so that the dragon isn't involved in attacking the castle.
They're going to strap Bran to one of the dragons, fly up super high so that none of the WWs can throw a spear at him, then force a Jon/Dany vs. Night King 2-on-1 dragon battle.
Trapping an ice dragon beneath two fire breathing dragons in an enclosed clearing isn’t the worst plan* *that also deep fries Bran and Theon
