  1. I'm guessing that either Drogon or Rhaegal ends up fighting Zombie Viserion, and that when the fight ends theres only 1 dragon left total

  12. Read a fan theory (I’m probably late to this one) that the NK and the dragon could head to kings landing and fuck that all up while the rest of his army battle the living up north.

    That would be something.

If I see the Night King plop his zombie ass on the iron throne I’ll freak. That would be sweet, as I 100% expect that to never happen.

Plot twist: the throne is made of Valyrian steel. One little point pokes him as he sits down, and he pops like a balloon. The end.

As much as I like unexpected endings it’s gonna feel really weird to me if anyone other than Mr. Snow ends up on the throne.

I think it's worth remembering that when GRRM started writing these in the 90's, Jon Snow ending up on the throne IS the unexpected ending. And if it weren't for the internet hivemind, I don't think 90% of people would have put the clues together about Jon's parentage.

But being one of an ensable of characters, being bastard born in a world that looks down on bastards, and being sent to the absolute furthest location away from the Iron Throne to fight a battle that seems way above and beyond the Game of Thrones....his rising to be King would be the subversion of the usual fantasy tropes. Those first three books you're expecting Ned or Robb to avenge him or Dany to take the throne back or etc.

George just took too long to finish the damn series.

I agree that the books will now be inevitably compared to the shows instead of the other way around. "this didn't happen in the show" and stuff like that and although it's a great book series, George has written himself not into a corner, but into a long-winded road to try and be different in the face of arguably the greatest fantasy tv series.

The thing is though, the unexplainably handsome manboy ends up being the chosen one is like, one of the most used tropes in all of fantasy.

In books he's not really described as being very good looking from what I remember....not described as ugly but usually just mentioned as having the Stark features like a "long face" and a "cold look" and etc. And usually that character is some sort of knight or nobility, Jon is a bastard in a world where bastards aren't considered legitimate members of families and etc. Robb would def be the handsome manboy chosen one trope, the son out to avenge his father and do good by the realm and etc.

Of course I think in the books it's still a little less clear just how imminent a threat the White Walkers are because everyone except Bran and the Night's Watch is still 100% caught up in the game of thrones, and even they got pulled into it by Stannis. Not that we don't know the White Walkers are coming of course, but the main worry for most of the characters in the book at this point is still who gets the throne...which means it's still a little less clear that Jon is the great Chosen One hero (Especially, IMO, if you took all the internet sleuthing out of the equation. If you just sat down and read the 5 books with no prior knowledge and didn't discuss theories with people online, I think it'd be even less clear that Jon is the hero of the story....especially since we know what his last chapter in book 5 was haha)

Yeah, the show shows its hand MUCH more than the books. His death in the books was so well written and shocking that I legit forgot that he would, with certainty, be brought back. But the show erases all his flaws, shortcomings, and fucked up actions so it's obvious where they are going with him.

Also it’s Kit Harington, so I’m howling at the idea that he’s not an impossibly beautiful boy in the show’s canon.
