why cant the night king’s motivation be that the children created an army of undead for the sole purpose of killing and the killiest one wants to kill a bunch. it’s rote and it’s a very tropey motivation but he is a mute idk what to ask for here lol unless Bran finds something out or already has and spills the beans
I hope they set up catapults that can send hundreds of sharpened dragon glass bits at the army of the dead
Not knowing what he is, what he wants, what he can do, etc... is probably my #1 biggest complaint about the show at this point. It's both fascinating and frustrating that we still are largely left in the dark about him after nearly a decade. And that's one of the reasons I want to throw my hands up and just let everybody die and just crush that stupid throne.
I never got the feeling that the Night King or the army of the dead was anything other than a force of nature
He’s just so dramatic! Leaving really intricate messages and wearing cool clothes and having epic staredowns. He’s got so much else going on besides being a killing machine. He almost has Draco in Leather Pants status.
I think they had dragon glass hedgehogs or whatever they’re called in one of the preview pics. I would assume that every weapon known in the show will have a dragon glass version for the battle.
the armor has been a point of contention for me as well, i can only imagine it was Craster as little sense as that makes given the hellhole he lived in. i feel like we are going to get more from Bran on this given the whole of the info we have is what the children gave Bran and he’s proven through his past warging that he is very curious about the walkers. he knows more than he’s said or he will soon. i hope.
I’m sure there will be more info given, for sure. But the possibilities are almost endless. I do think they are clearly more than a mindless force of nature though. The dragons are a force of nature, and they don’t go around spending hours and hours making intricate patterns out of goat carcasses. I’d like a deleted scene of the NK getting really huffy when the walkers aren’t interpreting his artistic vision correctly.
We at least need some kind of fall out between Bran and Night King after they touched in that vision.
Someone tell Bran to not kill the NK but send him to our world where we will appreciate him and support his new career.
I'd be fine with him being the NK. Now there are theories going around that Bran isn't even technically in that courtyard at all. That it's only a mental projection of himself there and only certain people can see him because he is allowing them to, that's why it was so odd that he just stayed outside the whole time.
One of my main (realistic) theories is that they bring back that Scorpion thing that shot Drogon. They use that to shoot a dragon glass spear (at least) at the ice dragon. I feel like it's weird to have an entire scene devoted to showing the power of that thing then have a big moment where Bronn uses it in battle only to say "Eh, well that kinda worked."
Alternatively it kinda ended up showing how much the Lannisters were underestimating dragons, and with that javelin throw, how dangerous the night king is. that said, I though the scorpion was cool and I hope they do more with it
I'm sure every possible theory for an ending has been thought of by now. No matter what happens, many, many, people are going to be upset, esp in this thread lol
On that note, it did already serve a purpose in that Drogon had seen that weapon before. He got hit with it and then was somewhat aware of how to dodge it next time when the Night King threw the javelin at him (it’s very loose but still sort of true).
Just catching up on the thread. Even as a table-setting ep, I really enjoyed the premiere. Plenty of interesting interactions and reunions for characters. I am here for the memes lol. The difference between Sam's reaction to learning his dad was killed and his subsequent reaction to learning his brother was killed was absolutely heartbreaking. John Bradley was great in that scene. Also, that scene at the end in the Umber castle was terrifying! As a horror fan, I really appreciated that.
John Bradley seems to be very underrated in general from what I can tell. He did a great job with that.
