The other problem with the dragon riding scene is that only Targaryens can ride dragons. Dany should know this since she enjoys oinking everyone on their lack of knowledge of the history of her families history. How does this just go over with a shrug.

I don't disagree with that, but trying to work it out in my head, I think she could probably just brush it off as some of the history of her family not being completely accurate. Dragons hadn't been around for quite a while, so she could have thought some of the stories were maybe exaggerated a bit (since some of the other characters were able to be friendly with the dragons, as it was pointed it). Who knows.

the dragon riding & waterfall scenes were bad and corny, the Cersei/Euron stuff was all the way bad

otherwise I thought it was a pretty good episode and I'm glad they're moving through all the set-up stuff pretty quickly and I kinda thought the Bran/Jaime meet up would get underplayed a bit among all the other big reunions, so having them end the ep by teasing it was pretty cool

Is it just me or does the Curb theme not really work with that meme lol? Maybe I’ve just seen too much Curb.

This one isn't the curb theme I promise.

I thought curb kinda worked...it's like that awkward cringy moment etc.

Yeah the one you just posted makes more sense. But there’s nothing comical about that look between Bran and Jaime so it just seems like people forcing the Curb theme for the likes/retweets. *shrug* probably just me taking memes too seriously again

That was a real botch job for the payoff here.

Also the comment in the Vulture article about everyone looking like they’re waiting to be GIFs sums the whole episode up perfectly. The memes are great, but mostly because the whole thing reads like a meme generator.

I loved Matt Ufford's scorecard recaps, but apparently he isn't doing them anymore. This one is pretty good, though.

In the beginning, the Targs were a lesser house amongst the dragon lords in Valaryia. There were 40 dragonlord families that could ride in Valryia. Agree that perhaps Dany should show more interest/shock at Jon having such a command with the dragons so quickly—specifically that they'd allow him to ride them—but it's not like the Targaryens were the only family to ever ride dragons.

I'm weirdly more interested in Dany meeting Ghost for the first time than Jon riding one of the dragons

I thiiiink some of the 'dragonseeds' used in the Dance of Dragons were also not Targ blood, IIRC. At the very least I'm pretty sure Nettles was not of the blood of Old Vlayria.

I could totally see them pulling a fake out and not actually having a great big battle between Cersei and Dany/Jon. Having 1/3 of the final season just be big battles seems out of place for GoT

It could go either way. I haven't the slightest idea how the rest of this season plays out in terms of predictions. Obviously there will be big fights but I'm not sure who or what or where.

I saw an article today saying how when the prostitutes Bronn was with were talking about the dragon attack, the guy they were talking about is Ed Sheeran’s character. They mention a Lannister soldier with red hair named Ed

I also like Jason Concepcion's theory that Dany doesn't question the dragons allowing Jon to ride them because of her own arrogance and thinking that she herself has so much command over the dragons that they in part let Jon ride because she essentially is telling them it's okay and that she trusts him through whatever telepathic-like bond she has with them.

"The Queen has other plans for them".....just thought of this line from Qyburn and now I'm a little worried that I know how Jaqen gets reintroduced to the story this season (if he does)...:upside:

My friend was pitching an ending to me last night where Cersei's story ends with a super-trial-by-combat thing where several of the heroes fight against The Mountain. He kills a handful of main characters before ultimately getting killed by Arya (who, in turn, has to mercy-kill The Hound and brings her to the end of her "list").
Not sure if a spoiler tag is necessary since it's just a theory, but I honestly thought an ending that brutal was more GoT style than a massive battle. haha.
