I would assume that's where they base their operations out of post-Battle of Winterfell.

 

Season 1 of the Leftovers played right after GOT, that was a hell of an hour back then

 

That is probably part of it, but also she's seen the dragons interact with Jon before in Season 7 and she noticed that they've taken a liken to him and he was able to touch Drogon and such, so I think she took that and was also kind of "reading the room" on how Rhaegal was reacting as Jon walked up and she could see Rhaegal was kind of kneeling down to let Jon get on if he wanted to.

I don't blame her for not assuming Jon is related, at least def not as close as he is to her. I guess it would have been laying it on thick if they had her say "you must have some blood of the dragon in you from generations ago" or something.

There's a character in the books that also gets along well with the dragons and claims to be have some Targ blood in him, but he's not in the show and he up until this point has not ridden on one.

 

That first scene where he walks up to Drogon and she can’t even see him was so goofy. She didn’t even show the slightest bit of fear that he would be at risk by getting that close. The dragons liking him does make sense of course from an audience perspective, but the way they have Dany react is always profoundly weird.

 

This is pretty much the same way I feel. The direwolf deaths get me way more.

I know Jon riding one was supposed to be a big deal, but I feel like it didn't register as such because of that scene from last season. I wouldn't be surprised if that doesn't occur at any point in the books. But not as surprised as I will be if the books ever get finished.

 

I could not watch that scene without "A Whole New World" stuck in my head. I was group texting through the episode with friends and had to say:

A whole new world
A freezing place I never knew
But when I'm way up here
It's crystal clear
Right now I don't know I am your nephew

 

let jon and dany have their fun before everything they care about is destroyed

 

Just realized: The last interaction Jon had with Bran was kissing his forehead to say goodbye, and that was the first thing he did when he saw him.

Side note that Chernobyl show looks crazy good, and terrifying.

 

Yeah im not super put off by any corniness or jokes or making fun of varys still....because this shit is about to get so dark and bloody and devastating so quick lets have a least a few laughs lol

 

Rewatching for a second time now

 

While rewatching I was reminded of this conversation we were having last night that didn't get completed.

I kinda disagree with your comment that its a shame things like this are still happening to her, especially when she brings them upon herself time and time again. I have no sympathy for that women. There's no single character with more bad karma built up against them besides her. She's reaping what she sowed, and I don't find it unjust.

 

Plus, she holds all the cards in this situation. She's not doing anything she doesn't want to do, and knowing her, she is doing it strictly for the opportunity to manipulate/use someone else.

 

I’ve watched the Episode 2 preview from last nights show about twenty times and I’m so excited

Would be cool to see a trial by combat with Jaime if he's found guilty by Dany for killing her father or if it even ends up being a trial (doubt it goes in this direction but would be surprising)

 

In show world, Tyrion also gets on well with the dragons. And Missandei, at the very least, appears super comfortable around the dragons. So it's not like Jon is the first and only person the dragons have a good rapport with

 

yeah i highly doubt they go that direction.
