I think it's being lost that the dragon ride was for the dragons to go find more food, IIRC. It wasn't meant to just be a romantic get away, but naturally turned into that when the dragons settled down to drink/eat.

 

I don't think the reason for them flying around is what's being made fun of though. It did come off as pretty cheesy, like the Aladdin/Attack of the Clones scenes mentioned above, haha

 

I think someone posted this last night, but just in case:

 

The only part I found cheesy was Dany and Jon flirting tbh, and that I can look past because I've definitely said worse to my wife lol....the ride itself was awesome, meant to be as big a moment for Jon as it was for Dany at the end of Season 5. Obviously it would have been cooler if Jon did it for some badass reason like Dany but it probably is more realistic for Jon to get the first ride out of the way in a non-combat situation so the dragon can learn to trust the 2nd ever dragonrider in over 100 years.

 

3rd* Night King did it before Jon :D

 

PS-Jon riding Rhaegal has now me instantly more attached to Rhaegal like I am to Drogon PLEASE DON'T DIE DRAGONS PLEASE

 

This truly isn't meant to be a mean statement, honestly, but I couldn't care less about the dragons from an emotional point of view. They are giant war weapons to me and I don't think I've ever or will ever feel a tinge of feelings towards their deaths or anything like that.

Is there a difference in universe between riding a dragon and what the whole suicide mission crew did last season?

 

I'd imagine that the dragonrider has some sort of control or steering/guiding ability. I'd say its not that dissimilar from being the driver or passenger in a car.

 

Yeah the assumption based on what we know about dragons is that there's no way in hell Drogon would have let those others hop on if Dany wasn't there.

 

So is that why she doesn’t seem surprised at all that he can ride one? Like she isn’t thinking about the “only Targs can ride” aspect as much as her own ego over them?

 

I don't think she is going to have a good reaction to Jon's real parents at all. This is another reason why I liked the Dragon scene, you need more scenes of them two being all cute together so it hurts more when she turns on Jon.

My friend is saying that Jaime knew Bran was still alive because he had conversations about Bran with Cat after the story of Theon killing him were already known to be false.

I think this is going to be a major point in the upcoming episodes. Even if Sam has the book, all the book said was that Rhaegar annulled his first marriage then secretly married Lyanna. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it didn't mention anything about them having a child, did it?

When Theon was tracking Bran and Rickon after they escape Winterfell, Cat has already freed Jamie at that point. So the last time Cat talks to Jamie, they haven't even heard that Theon supposedly killed Bran yet
