Bran out here like "we only have 6 episodes, there's no time for this bullshit"

I thought it was a good episode and am excited for everything going on. I never thought this show was high art by any means, so cheesy scenes or “fan service” stuff doesn’t bother me.

  10. I almost wish the Jon/Littlefinger confrontation in S7 when they were in the crypts didn't happen so Ned's "the next time we see each other we'll talk about your mom" line would've hit more when the camera zoomed in on him in this episode.

Is there any chance Dany already thinks / assumes that Jon has the same bloodlines as her? Like, has anyone else ever been able to get that close to her dragons / ride one? I feel like the dragons may sense that Jon is “family” and that’s why they allow him so much access to them and Dany outside of her telling them it’s okay or whatever

Geez, it was just a short scene that was only focused on him recognizing that what Sam was telling him was even true. I'm sure he'll get around to that next ep.

(They all know the dead can be brought back, that's literally the whole thing about them)

Yeah, I guess a lot of my issue is just from how rushed it all felt. I would say maybe we get a slow and complicated scene of him dealing with all of the ramifications next week, but I’m kind of expecting every episode to be this breakneck and for even this problem to be resolved quickly. Not necessarily what he will actually DO about it, but I don’t see them spending tons of time on his inner turmoil at this point.

Thought it was a pretty fantastic premiere. Lots of necessary table setting, but some great individual scenes.

I literally said "Was that Mac?" out loud at that part, I'm so happy I was right lol

I expected this to be more of a setup episode but I still highly enjoyed every second of it, seeing all the characters interact that haven't really much before was just fantastic, especially all of the reunions. Dany and Sansa seem to have an interesting dynamic too

I was so sure/scared that Tormund and Edd were gonna die and I'm glad they at least made it through another episode. That scene with the kid on the wall (don't remember his name) was legitimately unnerving

It was Ned Umber say his name damn it!

They went and did that to him after having the cute moment earlier in the show where they call out for Lord Umber and he pokes his head around the big Northman

i feel like we gotta leave the criticisms of “rushed” at the door. we have six episodes to wrap up stories for about a billion characters and relationships that we love, and two of those eps are all but guaranteed to be put aside for big battles. there isn’t time to simmer. that doesn’t mean dialogue can’t be bad and there aren’t things that could be handled better, but it’s all gonna feel a little rushed.

A counterpoint is that Sansa’s predictable stubborn and closed minded attitude is what really deserves eye rolls because shes out here like babys first queen demanding other houses to go get their armies to defend the north but she turns up her nose at the unsullied because dany isnt from the north.

Jon knows whats coming and literally nobody else there gets it except LeBran, so I get his frustration at the whole lot of them.

@EASheartsVinyl, during and immediately after episodes air the hype train is in full force and legitimate criticisms get rolled over. After a year or so these conversations can be had, and this episode will be seen as little more than rushed storytelling and cheesy fan service.
Which is what I expect from a season opener of this show, but what's annoying is the show had a premier showing where everyone was raving about how its so much more than a set up episode even though it was actually purely a set up episode.

They’re all incredibly frustrating, absolutely. The north whining about who’s in charge when Bran watched S7 and flat out told them what happened at the wall is not great.

It's still alot of fun though, and i definitely had some goose bumps during Jon and Sam's scene
