That was the explanation I guess but it really just seems like a hair-brained way to create tension for the viewer

I had already forgotten how much of a weirdo Bran is now

 

After they talk with Bran, Sansas like “oh shit the list is real?”

 

Bran: I can see through time and space but it gave me high-functiong autism for some reason

Arya: I can basically shapeshift and I’m a perfect assassin who thirsts for the blood of my enemies

Jon: I got killed and revived after trying to save thousands of people from ice zombies

Sansa: yeah I just lived amongst various sociopaths, some magic help sure would’ve been cool and useful but w/e it’s fine nbd nbd

 

The palace intrigue aspect of this show has always been it's strongest aspect, it's still one of the more consistent threads albeit there is a lot less of it now.

 

Is Bran in season five at all or is that when he took a hiatus or whatever?

 

Yeah Season 5 is Bran getting his ROTJ off screen training.

 

Stannis' introduction kind of rules

 

Stannis looks so different late in 5 and I can’t put my finger on why. Eyebrows?

Also this season is still the worst, yikes. None of the character decisions make any sense, everything is just happening to be crueler and crueler without a bit of justification.

 

Which episode are you on? I didn't notice him looking different, from what I remember.

 

I first noticed it in 8 I think. He has a bigger beard but there’s more to it than just that. Something about his features just looks different in a subtle but really clear way.

 

The justification is production related, sadly. They struggled to get an eighth season. Iirc either HBO or D&D wanted seven and the other wanted nine. Guarantee none of the 5th seasons bullshit happens if they get 9

 

His face is in a different level of soiled throughout the show, so it could be that. Haha

 

That’s terrible. I don’t see how it justifies anyone behaving completely against their previous characterization though. That’s just terrible writing even if you’re under the gun for time.

 

I think some of his hair is almost a different color, and that may be part of it.

 

The Ramsey/Sansa and Dorne storylines both cut an entire seasons worth of material from the book. Stannis...remains to be seen. Jon's was butchered though. No excuse for that. It doesn't excuse it but it does explain it.

 

Yeah stannis is greyer and I think they really upped the gaunt face makeup under his eyes and stuff to make him look like what he did had a real rough impact on him.

Also the beard is thicker by that point

 

This is before he does it though. Lol.

 

What's super different about Jon's S5 storyline from the books? The quest to get Karl Fookin Tanner was shoehorned in, but the other decision to go to Hardhome was a great one obviously.

I honestly can't remember Jon's arc in ADWD other than the ending which is of course the same.

 

Hmm...might just be the thickening beard and the grey.

IIRC they really let his grey hair show after he did the shadow baby thing, it was supposed to emphasize how doing that drains the lfie force out of a man a little bit. Seemed to get greyer and greyer as the show went on haha

 

Stannis is so far the most baffling to me. It makes no sense except to want to hurt the fans and ruin his character completely.

Everyone from Dorne trying to murder innocent people and little girls to avenge the death of someone who literally would not shut up about the exact opposite of that being what he valued is also insanely stupid.

 

My watch will end (HA HA HA) on Saturday night. Got four episodes left in S7. Gonna skip watching one tonight.

Jon was killed for being a deserter, not because Thorne is Donald Trump. Plus the whole thing with Gillys baby was so good/fucked up, i hate that they didnt include it
