Eh, I disagree...I think the best parts of this show, and the overarching story, are GOAT stuff. The different factions and such vying for power has been a lot of fun.

They just never found a good way to have any taste in getting across that yes, feudalistic societies that aren't that advanced can be dangerous for women.

Best moment of the show? Probably Tyrion’s monologue during his trial for Joffrey’s murder. Or Jaime telling Brienne what actually happened with the Mad King

Those two are fantastic....Hardhome and BotB are just ridiculous too.

I also always loved the dialogue between Varys/Littlefinger and Arya/Tywin.

Tywin's little introduction talk with Jaime is a good scene too.

Kissed by Fire is still the only episode that I have loved basically front to back. And that scene is one of the only parts I can think of that I would return to later.

It’s entertaining but it won’t ever come close to the depth and overall quality of the actual GOAT - Sopranos, Wire, Deadwood, Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Leftovers, Fargo, True Detective s1, etc etc

I fucking hate Gillen’s Littlefinger voice so much that it alone honestly ruins a lot of his scenes for me. It’s trying so hard and just doesn’t work at all

That can be said about a lot in this show, lol.

I will respectfully disagree haha. Some of the stories moved slowly here and there but the combo of the political intrigue with the great houses, the mystery of what was going on up North, and the idea of Dany and her dragons making their way back home, etc.

*puts on hipster glasses* I think the books did it all better, though.

But of course that could just be a fact of the books being able to go into more detail on smaller things. How great would this show be if we were all here in Season 8 discussing the Grand Northern Conspiracy and if that is what brought the Boltons down?!

In season 1/2 when he wasn't being all raspy and shit, it was so much better. Him and Varys sparring over who has more spies, Varys' "gash", etc....shit was always so good.

Then the next season, all of a sudden Chaosh ish a ladda.

Edit: That interaction is still pretty good though.

Time is not going to be kind to its critical standing, that’s for sure. For cultural significance and scale it will absolutely live on, but once the spectacle is over the major missteps and exploitative aspects will only become more and more obvious.

GoT reminds me of the MCU movies in that as long as their passable, then it's going to hit the nerve for some people and be wildly successful, but neither of them will last critically. GoT is better than MCU though, to be clear.

Yeah, imo dropping the ball once during a 9-year run is accepted when we're talking about considerably one of the best shows ever.

Hell, if I could stick through 6 seasons of the Walking Fucking Dead, anyone can accept S5 of GOT and keep watching/enjoying.

I'm a diehard fantasy nerd, so this show is right up my alley. I enjoy all the intrigue and different factions as much as the simple stuff like White Walkers and giants and shit lol.

But the costumes, settings, and battle scenes are mostly breathtaking. Nobody does large-scale battles better than this show, and the biggest one is yet to come.

Plus you get some seriously great performances from Lena Heady, Alfie Allen, and Peter Dinklage.

Why did they change how the Night King looks later on? This guy is way scarier.

idk i fucking love most of this show and don’t think the dialogue is half as bad as some of y’all. the exploitative shock stuff and focus on sexual abuse is gross for sure but beyond that i think it’s fantastic and most of it will age fine

Hardhoooome. That shit was so great on first watch, because it seemed unexpected. Like up until that point we had no idea what to actually expect from the White Walkers, let alone a full on assault like that. Def didn’t expect something long and sustained like that after we’d spent 5 seasons getting just small glimpses.

Unfortunately the actor that did the Night King in S5 I think was not available to film in S6, because I agree the OG Night King is a lot scarier/intimidating looking

I think the dialogue is great for the most part except for Season 5. Just some clunkers and bad acting and writing for Dorne.

The High Sparrow stuff is a little tiring but only because it’s kinda boring to hear religious fanatics preach haha

    That’s a real shame.

Some parts were a little too dark and muddy for me to tell who was getting slit, sadly. But it was very intimidating seeing them on their horses and totally destroying the living. I wish I cared more about giant battles and action sequences because it is one area where they are almost always impressive.

Davos and Shireen is still better than any crazy ice zombie fight though.

S1 on HBO right now....the scene where Ned enters the throne room for what is presumably the first time since he entered it to find Jaime sitting on the throne after killing the Mad King, and Jaime is again sitting there on the steps, is a cool scene.

Rewatching Beyond the Wall now. The Sansa-Arya conflict makes even less sense the second time. It's painful to watch
