Lol, that was rough but sadly like the Red Wedding I knew it was coming. And it was one of the most recent things I had spoiled which was a bummer. I almost made it!

I wish he could have just finished the job and tried for justice against the Lannisters later. Or even just like, not stood where he did... Sad to see such an interesting character go out without getting much to do, while far less interesting people get years of focus.

 

Season 5 is the generally agreed upon worst, right?

Uuuuuuuugh.

I loved everything with Tywin in the finale. Charles Dance is obviously one of the best on the show, and he played it all perfectly. Having Cersei destroy the idea of what he values above all and show just how misguided his entire view of himself and his family was and THEN have the person he undervalued most be the one to take him out in the least dignified way? His children came at him from every angle. That was good.

It’s the moments of greatness that make the big picture that much more frustrating and disappointing.

 

It has some great moments and stuff but they sacrifice a LOT for the sake of skipping to the final arc of the series

 

Hey, as long as they always find time for five minute scenes of women being literal props!

 

The last 3 episodes of Season 5 are up there with the best 3 episode runs of the series, but they just botch Dorne so much

 

One of my friends just started watching and he hasn't had too much spoiled, other than just having a general idea of who's still alive and knowing that the Red Wedding is a big deal. I'm so excited for him to finally experience the show.

 

Just finished me rewatch of it all and I’m SO ready for season 8.

 

I’m about to be on battle of the bastards. I’m getting there but I’m taking a break this weekend

 

But at the same time, I’m kinda ready for the show to be over. Anyone else feel that? It’s nearly done all it’s supposed to and if they wrap it up well, I’m not sure I’ll miss it as much as I did in the earlier seasons.

 

once they passed the books and had no more source material, they started to move pretty damn fast

 

Totally forgot about the whole how could Arya run and jump after what the waif did to her argument

 

I like how a lot of us are on the same episodes/season on this rewatch the past few weeks. I'm also up to Battle Of The Bastards tonight, and when I started I was paranoid I wasn't going to finish in time! Now it looks like I'll finish a week early, guess its back to waiting week to week for one last season :/

But excited for the end of Season 6, those last two episodes are incredible. I shall be drinking merrily tonight!

 

Season 5 is just fine don’t go into it with a jaded opinion. Especially if you haven’t read the books.

I don’t think I can really get more jaded about this show, lol. But I’m definitely willing to give it a go and see how it hits me.

 

Just wanna say I agree with your takes about Jon and Dany’s storylines being tedious to watch. Never understood why they’re so adored as characters when both of those actors are just incredibly one note. I mean I guess I do understand it, obviously they’re very important in the grand scheme of things on the show. But not very interesting, particularly in the middle seasons.

 

I would feel no emotions if Dany died. She’s just there. Pretty much every other character left carries either some sort of good or bad attachment.

 

I can’t believe how many uninterrupted scenes there have been of her sitting on a throne with a blank look on her face while (much more interesting) people come and pour their hearts out to her.

 

daenerys' biggest character trait is that she has dragons, which is telling of just how boring her actual character is. shes esy to root for early on because of her fuckface of a brother and how steadfast she was in pursuing what she found to be just but now its like "who cares?".
