If I'm reading your reactions right @EASheartsVinyl , did you just finish the episode with Tyrion's trial where he gives the awesome speech at the end?

Yep! I’ve got nothing to do today so I’m just blowing through a lot of it. Oberyn just had his big beautiful talk with Tyrion and now we’re back to the terrible child acting and it pains me.

Out of pure curiosity, how do you think this season you're currently on ends for most of the main characters? If you had to guess..

Oh, I already know most of the major deaths/other spoilers sadly. Not sure when they all happen though. I don’t know if going in totally unspoiled would have changed my theories though. I’m pretty sure I would have expected Dany, Jon, Tyrion, Cersei, Jaime, Arya, and all the other true “mains” to make it out.

If you mean where they actually are in the story, I have no clue what to expect for this finale. I’m assuming Dany will keep moving with her armies growing and Jon will pout and have to lead the watch in something, Ramsay will continue to be a joyless suck of everything evil, Tyrion will get out relatively fine, Arya and the Hound will keep becoming friends and she will keep losing her humanity for revenge.

For a second I forgot Jon's Season 4 story but now I remember. I more or less like his arc in season 4. They contrived the mission beyond the Wall to fill some time with his story but I don't think it was all that bad. Karl Fookin' Tanner was over the top but whatevs. It was excruciating to have Bran be that close to Jon and not get to talk to him.

Yeah, I had no idea they came so close to each other multiple times. Not sure I completely agreed that Jon wouldn’t let him go on his journey, but I guess he would have wanted him safe more than anything else. It would have been nice for them to reunite even if they had to escape again later.

Sam is so much more interesting than Jon, I’m at least glad they’re showing him more.

They took away almost all of the nuance to Jon.

It’s one of many places where I can’t figure out if it’s bad acting or bad writing or both or which came first. I have no idea why he’s so universally loved except for the fact that Kit is pretty.

So much of the stuff I didn’t like when I originally watched was fine on this rewatch. I hated gilly. I didn’t like the Mereen story. I felt like it took forever. Didn’t like the house of black and white. But binging definitely helped.

I actually thought Jon was one of the characters kept pretty close to the book...whiny and temperamental, struggles with every single decision because he’s trying too hard to be honorable like his father, etc.

I know, poor thing. She’s not like rude or inconsiderate or a danger to anyone, she’s just some girl who had an absolutely horrific life who has to go off now and do incredibly scary things with a man she barely knows.

No, she knew she was not going to die. There were several moments in season 1 where she realized she wouldn't burn, including the pilot.

The whole “he was no dragon” thing was probably the clearest depiction of that.

I didn’t care for her and sams story the first time around. And I couldn’t stand her voice. It seemed like every scene of theirs started with her voice. That was just how my mind remembered it. I guess week to week I wanted to see the other stories more and I felt like it was slowing down the show for me. But on second watch it didn’t bother me at all. And now that I know where the story is going it made it more interesting, especially hearing the things Sam is trying to tell her about what he’s reading.

Hm I guess I didn't remember her realizing she can't burn beforehand. If she knew, then I guess it was just everyone else and Jorah thinking she was a goner... maybe? I haven't watched the first season fully in a long time.

Yeah she kind of had hints of it, I.e. getting in the bath in her first scene with the handmaiden saying it’s too hot she’ll burn, when she grabs the red hot dragons egg, but she wasn’t completely sure yet and no one else knew at all
