Renly is a punk ass. Stannis was the rightful god damn king. BUT any way you slice it now, Sansa is the rightful queen.
I was really hoping someone would question my Sansa comment but okay fine So if we go by victory via conquest, Jaime killed the Mad King and yielded his service to Robert, who became king. Robert dies, giving the throne to Joffrey. Joffrey is then killed by the order of Littlefinger. Littlefinger is then killed by the order of Sansa. OR Robert dies, giving the throne to Stannis. Stannis is killed by Brienne who yields her service to Sansa.
Preferring Stannis to Renly is very odd to me Stannis does some truly heinous shit Also at the end of season four in rewatch and I think I’d underrated Watchers on the Wall
Watchers and Bastards have some of my fav fight scenes in the series. Plus the Bronn Trial by combat in s1.
Stannis was made into a villain in the show and i will forever hate them for that. But also, Stannis had a claim, was lowkey funny, one of the strongest fighters, and was mostly alright as a ruler. Renly was a whiny child that didn't like that he didn't inherit the throne.
I will admit I’m more or less exclusively talking about show Stannis cus that’s what’s fresh on my mind; haven’t read the books in a few years And this is the show thread, of course
What's everyone's rankings of the big, high-production battles? I'd probably go: (1) Hardhome (completely unexpected, the first time we truly get a sense of how powerful the White Walkers are, basically a zombie movie) (2) Battle of the Bastards (honestly this and Hardhome probably just share the top two spots, just for different reasons) (3) Blackwater (4) Battle of Castle Black (5) Jamie vs. Dany (6) Dany / John / basically everyone else vs. White Walkers (7) Dany vs. Sons of the Harpy (8) Greyjoys and Martells vs. Euron Can't think of any others (I would hardly count the dragons decimating everything like in Slaver's Bay a "battle" since it's so one-sided)
