Little finger is not dead. What they said in the tombs was relevant to a scene they showed in tonights episode.
I would have preferred they just wait to show us the full Tower of Joy scene rather than breaking it up.
nitpicking here but i thought it was monumentally lame for arthur dayne to wield two swords instead of the sword of the morning, but whatever
Yes, felt like TV comedy writing 101. The whole tower of joy thing, I get the theory about Jon but what exactly are we assuming we'll see in there? I'm still confused on this.
I think we would just see the dialogue between Ned and his sister about raising Jon as his own and any other plans tied to that decision. That would be my guess.
Seems as though they are setting it up to appear like Lyanna (Ned's sister) is up there and being attacked or something. The actual reveal will be that she is giving birth to Jon (we think). This is why Ned was asking the Kingsguard why they were at the tower instead of protecting the prince, and they said the prince wanted them there. And yeah, we assume a conversation will go down between Ned and Lyanna about keeping Jon's identity a secret.
and if that last little part happens...then holy shit. Also glad Jon is abandoning the Watch, but I do think that Sansa gets there before he leaves. spoiler from production photos She is the only reason why he would go back to Winterfell and wearing Stark colors.[\spoiler]
Yes sir. I forget some of the detail that has been stated, but eventually Lyanna conceives Jon in the Tower and dies shortly after having the baby. Before she passes, she and Ned have a convo and come to an understanding that Ned will raise Jon as his own. To throw everyone off, Ned will just say that he had an affair or something. That's sort of the rough premise at least. I am sure someone could explain it better haha. Edit: sorry to the few people that haven't heard this theory yet.
that is true. the theory is that her child is jon snow and in order to save him from being murdered by Robert, Ned had to pass him off as his own bastard
Which makes no sense because Robert's wife was pregnant, and he knew of it obviously. But then all of a sudden Ned has a kid by a mysterious woman who was pregnant at the same time and it just so happens when Lyanna dies, Ned's mistress has a kid.
Yeah, I don't really think it's a "spoiler" exactly, just been the prevailing evidence that's been piling up and now we're almost there. haha. So basically...she was married to Robert Baratheon (but not by choice), fell in love with Rhaegar and ran away with him. Everyone was under the impression that she was kidnapped until the reveal that they conceived Jon, so to protect Jon's identity, Ned just keeps running with the story that she really was kidnapped... Pretty neat if it all goes that way.
I think she was gone for so long that Robert didn't know she was actually pregnant. Either that or Ned tells everyone that she had been dead for quite some time. No one has any reason not to believe him. I'm not sure of the timeline.
i dunno, dayne is pretty much the greatest warrior in westeros at that time by a very wide margin. it's not as clear in the show but its not a totally unreasonable thing.
I was disappointed at first, but the dual swords still showed he was in a league of his own, so the point came across. Also, I'm no swordsman, but using two swords kind of like daggers seems more practical than using one giant sword against multiple attackers.
Agreed, but we are sort of spoiling what's about to happen. We are basically getting the Prince Who Was Promised. Granted, the show was building in this direction for a little while, so anyone who read the books or message boards sort of knew the score. I just feel bad talking about what's going to happen haha.
