My girlfriend is about to watch season 3 episode 9 (Red Wedding). She knows the Red Wedding exists in the show (doesn't know specifics) and has no idea it's in this episode. I'm so pumped.

She is SO pissed at me hahaha

She loved Robb and keeps saying she has nobody to root for now. I keep telling her a Purple Wedding is on the way and much more satisfying!

The second half of season 3 is fantastic. Robb was the best and I honestly did not see ANY of that coming. It hurt to watch that happen to Talisa

The only show that I would say i've felt was equally aesthetically pleasing as well as mentally is Westworld. The show really blew me away with its first season.

if you're looking to get the love out of the characters like you did from thrones don't watch westworld, it's some of the least i've cared about any characters on show, showrunners are really bad at making you really fall in love with them while game of thrones is extremely character centric

Just gonna put it out there that this is the first time i've ever heard criticisms like this about Westworld haha.

i enjoyed westworld, but it's the worst 'prestige tv' show i've seen. so much exposition, and by the end it's just "anthony hopkins destroys all subtlety by explaining things at you"

I couldn't agree more. Liked the concept of the show and the actors, but the whole mystery aspect of it was kind of botched, in my opinion. They made it so confusing to the point where the characters had to literally go on rants to explain what happened. They pulled the whole "maybe he's in control, maybe he was programmed to act that way" thing a dozen times in the first season. I gave up trying to figure out if there was an actual plot.

yeah, i think the second to last episode is the one that's almost a bottle ep because it's just one character looking at another surprised character and explaining things for like 30 minutes with some cutaways/flashbacks

Whaaaaaat I think you guys have a really bad take on the show. I felt fully invested in 4 characters, and I was never confused apart from wondering exactly whose side Anthony Hopkin's character was on. Never felt like anything was a rant, I felt that much like GoT, the dialogue was well written and was necessary to understand the whole story.

i was never confused either, but fuck, did they make super duper sure of that

I was never confused on what was actually happening; I was confused about where the story was going because they kept flip flopping where the characters were headed over and over. Maeve was the only one who had a clear trajectory, in my opinion.

Agree to disagree on the exposition being necessary to understand the story. Sometimes it's good for a character to speak to reveal twists - GoT is good at that. But Ford (and at the end, the Man in Black) held your hand on more than one occasion. It was way too much of "Here's what happened..." for me.

Yeah I think it comes down to just absorbing the story differently than others and I get where you're coming from. For me, the fact that I didn't know the company's largest shareholder was the man in black and was also a twisted psycho who'd spent too much time in the world was a great reveal to me. I didn't see it coming at all.
